Ghostery – Privacy Ad Blocker by Ghostery

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14060281, 6 years agoGhostery is breaking our application (by replacing IDs in legitimate requests sent to our backend), causing Denial of Service for our users who have Ghostery installed. Their support has been unresponsive for more than 2 weeks. This is simply not OK.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14055967, 6 years agoNot suitable for Firefox 60.0.1. Ghostery gets dismissed and is flagged "obsolete" by Firefox.
Even tried the Github pull, although it it not signed code, but that also got flagged "obsolete". So, i gave up and installed another plugin that actually does work. Apparently, ghostery is history.Developer response

http://mygho.st/M6 - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14054573, 6 years agoI can not get it to work. I have added it 20+ times and am logged in. It does not seem to get added to my browser. Yet in my browser setting it says it is turned on?

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14038268, 6 years agoYeah, people really should know this company is not to be trusted according to this:
https://lifehacker.com/ad-blocking-extension-ghostery-actually-sells-data-to-a-514417864
I used to use it, long ago, until I learned of this information. And once I realized I had been duped, uninstalled it. Never looked back since then and used better addons that ACTUALLY did the job.Developer response
posted 6 years agoTo be fair, that article never had the facts correct. Plus it is 5 years old. Ghostery is now open source so you can see for yourself what's going on behind the scenes. https://github.com/ghostery/ghostery-extension - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14028734, 6 years agoGhostery has been an annoyance. I could control AdBlocker but not Ghostery. I want to remove it but have not yet found the way to do so.

posted 6 years agoHi!
Ghostery does not sell user data. The Human Web, which you can choose to opt in or out of, is an open source technology built by our parent company Cliqz, that provides anonymous group data to help create and improve the browser security features we provide. If you would like to read more about the Human Web, here is a link to our FAQ page where this is covered in detail:

- Rated 1 out of 5by User, 6 years agoThis Addon is bought by a data-company (see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostery#Criticism ).
Don't trust it anymore!
I would better recommend installing uBlock, who is made by a free person, is open-source (everybody can read and change the code) and does not sell its users data.

Explain why you don't consider this action selling user data. It is nothing about source code.Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by Cybercrypsis, 6 years agoThe addon that does't respect your privacy, collects your data to make money, and the developers who constantly delete negative reviews... Great job,.. highly recommended for people who have absolutely no idea what they are doing/installing!
Go ahead,.. delete this for the forth time.
I'll be back!Developer response

"...Ghostery does not sell user data..." nowdays!...after having been dicovered to do it and rebuked...:-)) - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13853185, 6 years agoFinally Ghostery is up to the ethical standards of Mozilla Corporation, which bought them.
Before it was proprietary software spying on you for corporations.
Now it's open source software spying on you for corporations !
With those guys when it's free, you're the product.
