Read Aloud: A Text to Speech Voice Reader by LSD Software

by Lostin, 2 years agoIt works but HELP.
I tried changing the voice while it was going. The first few times I did this, the old voice stopped and the new one played when I hit play again. This time, nothing happened. I navigated to the page and hit the addon again. Both old & new voices started playing over each other, I pressed STOP then the new one stopped but the old one kept playing?? I closed the tab and it kept going and won't stop. :sob:
> Reading a PDF
> Oh wow it eventually stopped when it got to the end of the page or whatever, some stopping point thank God.
> I do have a lot of tabs open to be fair?
Anyway, works better than most options on Google Chrome browser. 4/5 for that alone, but please fix the never-ceasing ghost voice.

- Rated 5 out of 5by James M, 11 days agoI only created a Mozilla account specifically to write a positive review for this add-on. That's how highly I think of it. I have been struggling to keep up with my reading backlog, and this add-on allows me to do other things while emails are read to me. The female Google voice is much more natural than many other text to speech voices. You can select it, among others. in the options. Great work on the add-on! I love it!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Lemmingly, 14 days agoNot perfect, but does exactly what it needs to. Quick to activate, controls aren't too clunky, and it's not invasive.

To the Dev: add a settings button for the seniors. Also, I tried to copy the text in the window, but it is not copy-able and I believe it should be - Rated 5 out of 5by Kirenio, a month ago

The german voices I tried sound annoying, but with the generic voice its good. - Rated 5 out of 5by Orion Pax, a month agoThis is a single best extension that I have ever used in all of my History of using Internet. I have always found the read aloud feature on edge very superior and that is something that had kept me on edge for quite a few while. At once I wasn't very impressed of the Piper voices, because I was so used to the Microsoft Eva online voices, which Microsoft provides. So I decided to use narrator on my own PC as a replacement, and thought that I wouldn't use this extension. And so I decided to download those voices on my narrator app But working with narrator is kinda hard because it's not made for people who want to read articles It's mostly made for people who have visual impairment. so i decided to go back And thought to myself that maybe I should stick to read out aloud piper voices and not bother about using anything else. But as soon as I was exploring the settings section, I realised that read aloud has automatically imported all of those voices, which is excellent and absolute beast. 😭😭😭😭😎😎😎😎😎. I'will talk to the creators of this add on so that they know it themselves. So it's implemented within the extension by default. becoz those voices are quite good. heck natural reader also uses them

- Rated 4 out of 5by Brody, a month agoThis extension was working great until today. Now any time i try to use the extension, it has ~90% cpu usage and causes my laptop to freeze. edit: It seems like I need to restart my computer every couple hours to avoid this issue.
