by Ashton, 2 years agoSeems good but has a lot to work on. For starters tags are a mess, having linux in your interests gets you mainly crap about ubuntu new releases.
Tried suggested adding phoronix but somehow it was against community guidelines (not sure which), despite majority of content shown being against those very guidelines.
Game Dev ? you get mainly "someone modeled some character in blender or someone copied something into unreal/unity here are screens".
Tried suggesting few sources but once again, against community guidelines. Well not much hope for that one since there's 3 tags, game dev, game design, godot and gaming.
Haven't seen a news about godot so far though, bunch of news about unity, lil bit of Unreal, not bad but honestly majority of Game Dev news is meh showcases of artists, honestly this stuff should go to some separate computer graphics section.
So how about Programming Languages ? There's a lot if you're a web developer, but if you set c you get c# as well as c and cpp, while I can understand c and cpp, c# is completely different thing.
Security ? Not that bad, except aside from security content you actually get political crap and bunch of corpo training bs.
Dev tools ? Mostly news about new version of various tools most of stuff you prolly won't need.
Then what about casual news, well you can expect to see same type of news from different sources even if you've read it from one source.
What about black lists ? well tags ain't that good aside from webdev so once again a lot of content just gets 1 broad tag you can blacklist. Don't want information about corporate security trainings ? well you can blacklist security tag or whole page and that's about it.
It's not a bad extension but really bad at filtering and grouping information aside from content for certain interest groups or casual news.
Also, really ? phoronix ?

I'm on a vpn, but I'm not even seeing failed requests. - Rated 5 out of 5by AbdooOwd, a month ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by Rodrigo Cavalcanti, a year agoEvery time I open a new tab I'm logged out of the daily.dev app. Even if I connected to my account I'm being disconnected. It's very annoying because it keeps opening a new tab for "https://app.daily.dev/onboarding", asking me to login.
