Limit - Limit Distracting Sites by Freedom

by B.Forbes, 5 years agoThis is a very simple add-on, but it does exactly what I'm looking for. It logs the time you use on a site. If you remove focus to another window, it stops counting. When the limit is reached, it sends you to a polite "You've reached your daily limit for x". You can set times for each site individually, and mousing over the icon tells you what you've used and how much you have left. It is good for setting personal limitations. It does not limit the person who doesn't want to be limited, because getting into settings is super easy, adding and removing sites is also easy.
There is also a feature that puts the time stamp in the corner of the page. That works, but it puts that stamp on every page you have open, not just the ones you want to limit. I would set it to only display on sites that are being limited if I had the option, so that feature isn't perfect. But I just keep it off and mouse over the icon to check the time left.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Sup3r87, 15 days agoI used Limit for roughly a year, and it worked okay, but never exceptionally to me, and that was mainly because the UI made it extremely easy to disable the extension (without hard-turning it off or removing it). If you're someone like me who will frequently open distracting sites if feeling a little dull, limit might not be the best for you.

- Rated 2 out of 5by Ivan , 3 months agoJednoduche a funkcni. Bohuzel pomerne velike okno v pravem hornim rohu je znacne rusive a nelze upravit. Pokud by slo presunout, ci zmensit, dal bych 5*.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 18643839, 4 months agoThe settings (which sites to block) are not synchronized across computers. There should be an option to make the "time on the page" display appear only for monitored pages. Apart from that a nice addon

- Rated 5 out of 5by skeptic, 6 months agoPerfect extension if you want a simple interface to limit your social media usage. Just keep in mind that if you want to use it for twitter, you need to register the site with the new domain (X) because it comes with the old name configured by default and it won't work.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Dutchness, 2 years agoThis is a good addon, but I would find it more useful if the "show timer" option didn't cover the webpage i'm on, and instead just showed a minutes # on the extension icon in my toolbar.

- Rated 1 out of 5by NS, 3 years agoWorked fine for a couple of days, then suddenly the app disabled itself, and my list of sites became empty, and I couldn't add sites to the list (I click "add" and nothing happens). Disappointing.

- Rated 5 out of 5by CdFMaster, 4 years agoExcellent ! It works exactly as I expect (the counter stops when the tab is not focused, you can customize what limits you put on which sites...), and some features are very interesting, like the alert 15 minutes before the site is blocked, and the permanent counter - even though it's a bit invasive, I should be able to remove it on the websites that I don't want to limit.
