- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14190338, 7 years agoUnusable for me. Got a "This extension (Midnight Lizard) is slowing down the tab, would you like to stop it" message everywhere I went. And it was just slow and laggy. Had to remove the addon. It's a shame since I would love to use, love the idea behind add. Was running on a Win 10 laptop with an i7 Processor.
P.s why do you need a right to all data on all websites? Seems a bit weird.Developer response
posted 7 years agoIf you have performance issue please switch to Simplified mode on Common tab of Midnight Lizard's settings popup.
In case you have problems on most websites use 'Set as default' button after changing the mode.
All addons that change at least something on the pages you visit have to require "Access your data for all websites". It does not mean that they actually do something with your data...
Midnight Lizard is an opensource project and does not collect or send your data anywhere.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 10381320, 7 years agoThe fact that the web managed to embrace responsive design and utterly forget about colour is a crying shame. This extension fixes that oversight and makes the web usable in low-light situations.
Unfortunately, to do this, it needs to continually process the entire DOM, and for sites with massive amounts of information, such as big Trello boards, this is a big hit and slows down everything. As such, this shouldn't really be done as an extension: it should be part of the browser rendering pipeline. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14142584, 7 years agoMY EYES! I can see again :p
look through the settings, this one will
allow you to be off at all time, and run only on cretin pages.
Love it :D - Rated 5 out of 5by JL, 7 years ago

Bugs:
Not compatible with:
twitter.com
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomy
https://github.com/lukesampson/scoop-extras
https://orgmode.org/org.html
when these pages/sites complete loading the whole page gets dark and can't see anything.
--------
EDIT: / EDIT2:
:( I have no idea what it has conflict with. On github.com and en.wikipedia.org, it works fine for most of pages, but just gets whole dark page for a few specific pages likes I have listed above.
(Windows 10 1803, Firefox Developer Edition 62.0b12(64bit))
UPDATE: I've found the cause of this issue, Midnight Lizard conflicts with *Vim Vixen* on some websites or partial of these site's pages. But don't know who to be blamed.
Opened issue: https://github.com/Midnight-Lizard/Midnight-Lizard/issues/153
--------
EDIT3: P.S. When Midnight Lizard is enabled and dropped in Firefox's Overflow Menu, its option page is not scaled properly and it's hard to see anything.Developer response
posted 7 years agoPlease try to disable other extensions.
Websites you've mentioned work correct (but both work better with Simplified mode).
The problem should be with some extension that adds transparent or hidden overlays and Midnight Lizard accidentally changes their color. Most likely it might be extensions with similar functionality with Midnight Lizard.

Midnight Lizard - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 12239101, 7 years agoAfter installing this I get the "This extension (Midnight Lizard) is slowing down the tab, would you like to stop it" popups at ALL sites I visit. Browser was lagging like crazy. NOT RECOMMENDED.
EDIT: Thanks, I followed the advice from the developer and things are a lot lighter overall now, although sites where a different theme is active still feel quite heavy on the browser though, but it's not a universal problem now.Developer response
posted 7 years agoYes, this behavior is possible on some websites and/or slow machines.
Please switch to the Simplified mode on the Common tab of Midnight Lizard settings popup.
Choose to 'Set as default' if you are experiencing slowdown on most websites.

posted 7 years agoNo Web Extensions are allowed to run on any Firefox system pages nor addons.mozilla.org due to security restrictions. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 12136720, 7 years agoTried it on facebook. Makes it very slow and the newsfeed won't load instantly when scrolling down. You have to wait a few seconds (about 5) for new content to load before you can keep scrolling downwards.

posted 7 years agoMidnight Lizard suits the best for static websites and reading materials. Facebook is an example of a highly dynamic and overloaded with functionality websites. But you still can use Midnight Lizard on those websites with a simplified mode which is less accurate but works much faster. You can switch to the simplified mode on the 'Common' tab and press 'Apply' to use it on the current website.

Midnight Lizard - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12877546, 7 years agoDas hat Klasse!! Seit Jahren suchte ich so ein Add on. Die Weißen Seiten sind sehr unangenehm wenn man lange vor der Kiste sitzt. Danke! Weiter so!

- Rated 3 out of 5by R4mzy, 7 years agoLooks great and works pretty well. Behaviour can look a little odd on sites that are already dark but by and large I prefer my web like this.
My biggest gripe is that it introduces some performance problems on some sites. In particular I use a self-hosted site for asset management (Snipe-IT), and when searching of different assets or other items this add-on introduces lag when I type different search terms and the content of the page (the search results) dynamically changes in response. - Rated 5 out of 5by The Beard Below My Chin, 7 years ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Sidhe, 7 years agoI like the app, but when you move the icon to the "Other tools" list, the scale of the settings window changes to a very small one.
