- Rated 5 out of 5by Nikita, 4 years agoDoesn't work anymore in Firefox 82.0.2
When adding a search engine, a dialog box shows up with following error:
Firefox could not install the search engine from: https:// file.io / ZUvgReF1ioWH
File.io file is an xml file with HTML for the search engine.

EDIT: Developer already fixed this issue. I was worried this extension was dead as well. Thanks. :) - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13484099, 4 years ago

posted 4 years agoSadly the keyword can't be specified when adding search engines because it's not supported by the OpenSearch description format. It's more a user-defined browser configuration. You can however export/import search engines with their keywords offline starting from v3.1.0. - Rated 5 out of 5by Vedun, 4 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Yosik, 5 years agoVery nice, this addon helped me add SearX as a search engine. But I have a small bug: I cant paste urls into entry box from the Xorg primary clipboard.

It generates a favicon automatically, and can backup into a json file.
Very impressive. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14070067, 6 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by hipsterlynx, 6 years agoI was just looking at the new API to figure out how to rewrite my old add-on for Firefox Quantum, and came across yours. Uploading and then downloading the engine data doesn't look like the most elegant solution, but if this is really the only thing you can do now, what you gonna do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'd consider checking whether the downloaded file is the same as the one you uploaded though, just to be sure that you are getting back the same thing and the file host is possibly not trying to do anything funny. - Rated 5 out of 5by Steve, 7 years agoIf you get an error message trying to add a search engine, verify that your employer is not filtering web access. :)
This add-on works great! - Rated 5 out of 5by Miskude, 7 years agoI love it, this is exactly the kind of add-on that I was searching for. This should be a default option in Firefox since it's really limited in the search engine department.
