- Rated 5 out of 5by Dezzer323, a month agoif you did this for images too blocking any bad images even on facebook, you would have made the ultimate free profanity blocker on the net!
if you do. keep it free! and bankrupt the greedy porn blocker companies to the ground.
they sell the cure to a disease that should be free.Developer response
posted 25 days agoThanks for sharing your experience with the extension. We would love to add support for blocking images, but that isn't something that is feasible at this point, but it would be something that might be possible in the future. - Rated 5 out of 5by liroken646, 4 months agoCurrently not working. Not even loading tbh (not even the /optionPage.html#/ page and such is loading)
i'm currently on firefox 128.0.3 but was already not working on the 128.0 earlier version
Edit: oh yeah it started working again. Dont know if it was an update or what 🤷♀️Developer response
posted 4 months agoI'm sorry it isn't working for you. Unfortunately I'm not able to replicate what you're describing. If you're willing, please send an email to support@frostco.dev so we can get to the bottom of the issue. Thanks! - Rated 5 out of 5by Juli, 5 months ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Christie, 8 months agoAdvanced Profanity Filter is an answer to an 'unrequested' prayer because I could never fathom that one day I'll be able to enjoy movies without hearing the language.
The filter is a delight and for the times when audio is muted for a long time, it doesn't bother me because I can read from the subtitles.
I love the option of adding additional words to the filter, wow! This has been more than a blessing. Thank you Richard!!! - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 18291635, 9 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18212551, a year agoThis thing is seamless! I was browsing reddit and it took me forever to figure out why eveyone was using the word freak
- Rated 4 out of 5by Oonix, a year agoMutes for audio are too long. Looking for muting a word, not the entire sentence or phrase. Have not found a way to adjust this feature.
Developer response
posted a year agoThanks for your review @Oonix. Unfortunately at this time there isn't really a way to shorten mute times because the filter doesn't have access to precise enough timing information. Most of the time it only knows when the captions get added to the screen, not how long they'll be there, or when each word is said. I will be working on adding an algorithm to try and reduce muting time (with a possible decrease in muting effectiveness) in situations where the filter does have start and end times for a phrase, but I'm hoping it will be about 50% shorter on the mute times in a phrase. - Rated 5 out of 5by Nyaa, a year ago

Developer response
posted 2 years agoI'm glad you are liking the Add-on. I'm sorry that you are seeing lag though. If you'd like to help troubleshoot the issue, could you send an email to support@frostco.dev or open up a Github issue and share some more information?
As for YouTube muting, all you should need to do is turn on Audio muting (Options page > Audio tab). - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17591281, 2 years agoWon't be using because I'm against its use purposes, but after watching Technology Connections video I've had to search a similar "gadget" that would embark on the captions trek to review the profanity. Well, here it is, and it worked the time I tested it
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 17507171, 2 years agopretty great for my OCD but recently has been muting swear words on youtube none of which are on my list. It's still censoring the words on my list but is adding words that aren't there, but only when censoring audio.
Developer response
posted 2 years agoThanks for taking the time to review. The only reason I can think of for that behavior is if in the YouTube captions the video has "[ _ ]". That is a form of censoring that YouTube does when they automatically generate captions, and its kind of a fill when they come across several different "curse" words. APF is including "[ _ ]" automatically on YouTube, and right now there isn't a way to turn it off. If that is the issue though, I'm happy to add a way to disable that if you'd like.
UPDATE: The new option has been added (Options page > Audio tab > Mute pre-censored captions on YouTube) - Rated 5 out of 5by Wescyde, 3 years agoWorking fine again, but for some reason on Feb 10th it wasn't...

posted 3 years agoI'm sorry its not working for you. Could you send an email to support @ richardfrost.info (without spaces) with your config? You can export your config from Options page > Config tab > Export button. I just double-checked, and it is still working on Twitter for me in Firefox. If you'd rather not share you config, perhaps try saving a copy of your config using the steps outlined above, then reset back to defaults (same page in options) and try it again.
You might also check to make sure it isn't disabled on twitter. You can check that in Options page > domain tab, or by opening the extension's popup on Twitter and making sure the switch is on/blue. - Rated 3 out of 5by Irish, 3 years agoUnless im doing something wrong.... this filter has only worked on Hulu for me so far. Its great on Hulu and a wonderful tool but it hasn't worked once with HBOMax or Netflix... a little disappointing but much appreciated for the work put into it.
Updated: After the last update it would appear it works for Netflix now but still not for HBO Max. Thank you for the hard work you put inDeveloper response
posted 3 years agoThanks for the review, and for letting me know about the issue. There have been some changes to HBO Max that have broken the filtering for now. I'm working on that issue as quickly as I can and will hopefully have a fix out in the next few days.
Update: HBO Max should now be working as well. Please let me know if you still have any issues with it. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16907262, 3 years ago
