You need this addon for Google SGE artificial intelligence snippits to show up when you search. With the default user agent i do not get them. This also allows for follow up questions.
This is where it gets weird.
Without using your addon to change the useragent we get no amp links because Firefox removes these by default.
I was using the old Redirect Amp to html addon to remove amp links.
I guess this now fails as of recently to my knowledge. Just sends me right back to Google search and doesn't send me anywhere.
So i removed the old addon and am looking for a new amp remover.
edit I found a userscript for the fix to remove amp below.
Because i hate clicking the paperclip and amp links hate my phone. I actually have to click the paperclip to load the actual webpage because i get problems like not being able to scroll or content doesn't load half the time with those.
I am sure the other addon needs updated.
Keep in mind if you change your useragent to appear to be Chrome then Google adds AMP links back that don't exist in the Firefox version. Firefox removes these by default with their version of the Google search page. Again changing the useragent to Chrome adds back Amp links.
I am going to search for some acripts and see if any AMP remover scripts don't have the problem.
The problem is. Everything i found so far is years old without updates.
Also i am using the old. Don't track me Google. Because that addon is perfectly working to get the actual url and removes YouTubes redirect and the new scripts don't work correctly. Clearurls is currently broke. Much faster removing Google's redirect and i can copy a real link for others.
I fixed it as far as i know. Instead of using the old redirect amp to html. I found a working script. I installed the beta version of the adguard DisableAmp script in my userscript manager. I wonder if this can work in ublock origin. Hmm
https://github.com/AdguardTeam/DisableAMP
So now i can have Don't track me Google and also remove the AMP links that we get when using the Chrome version of Google search.
Edit. All was well and after writing this. The remove amp addon broke if i remove amp with the script i tried. On the phys.org website .html is not at the end of the address breaking the website. Like this was just updated and now no links work without disabling my remove amp userscript.
So what happens is you get nothing is here. Simply adding.html at the end fixes it. So i could run a script to fix this for the only website that seems broken with this.
They must read addon reviews on mozzila addons and want you to go to the damn amp link that doesn't work on my device most of the time without any addons. - Rated 3 out of 5by WHC, 7 months ago
