This happened on that website and some others :
https://www.gurumed.org/2021/02/25/il-y-a-quelques-messages-cachs-dans-la-mission-martienne-de-lastromobile-perseverance/
It works if I select the text before hand tho, is it the intended behavior ?

Finally, I no longer have to use Edge to enjoy the immersive reader ! I'm very grateful for that.
Suggestion : atm it's a bit cumbersome to access the reader tool. Could you do something like what the Text To Speech (TTS) addon does, i.e :
Select any desired text. A play icon appears, click on it to start the voice reading.
Or maybe do what Edge does :
Select the text, then right click and click on "read aloud" in the context menu.
Anyway, thanks again for this addon, I think this will be useful to many.Developer response
posted a year agoHi there,
First off, a big thank you for your feedback and for sticking with Helperbird over the years. It's fantastic to hear that our immersive reader has been such a positive addition to your routine, especially compared to Edge!
I wanted to address the issue you mentioned with the reader on some websites. Since your last experience, we've rolled out a bunch of updates. That annoying "Sorry, we could not find any text on this page" message should now be a thing of the past. Plus, we've made the reader tool easier to use and more efficient, just like you suggested.
Your input on how to improve Helperbird is invaluable to us. If anything else pops into your head or if you've got more to share, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Thanks again for your ongoing support and for helping us make Helperbird better.
Best wishes,
Robert James

- Rated 1 out of 5by uniquew, 4 years ago"Access your data for all websites" why need this permission if other text to speech extensions doesn't require it???
Developer response
posted a year agoHi uniquew,
Thank you for reaching out with your question about the "Access your data for all websites" permission. It's great that you're comparing and taking a keen interest in the permissions required by different text-to-speech extensions.
This permission, which is more accurately for the "active tab," is essential for Helperbird. It allows us to adjust text, fonts, colors, and other elements on the page you're viewing. Rest assured, we don't send or collect any of your data – respecting your privacy is our highest concern.
Your query has sparked an idea for us. We're now considering making this permission optional for users who only wish to utilize the text-to-speech feature. We'll keep you updated on any developments in this area.
Your feedback is incredibly valuable and plays a significant role in how we continue to develop and enhance Helperbird.
Thanks once more for your insight and support.
Best regards,
Robert James Gabriel
Helperbird Team - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16521757, 4 years agoHelperbird does so many things that are game changing for me! By far the two most important are the the font changes and the highlight ruler. I can change fonts to something dyslexia friendly. The ruler helps me stay on the line I'm trying to read. These two things change the blur into words!
It has taken a bit of experimentation, so plan to spend a little time figuring out how to use the features. Tech support has been great when I have had problems!Developer response

Helperbird Team - Rated 2 out of 5by Anh, 5 years agoThe feature I wanted to use the most, the ruler, when enabled would make the web page freeze & I cannot scroll down to read the rest of the article. There should be an option to set multuple rulers in different colours, and more option for heights as well as widths, and options to set the rulers at fixed positions on screen that can be saved & enabled at 1 click. Dyslexia/dyspraxia/dysgraphia & other developmental disabilities manifest differently in different people. I don't mind paying because I really need aid reading, but I don't use all the other features & the one that I really need doesn't work very well. It's a pity.

posted 5 years agoHi Anh,
Thank you for your honest feedback, and I'm really sorry you had trouble with the ruler feature. Your input is super important to us, and we've definitely taken it on board.
Since your review four years ago, we've totally revamped our features, including the ruler. It's now much smoother, with no freezing or scrolling issues. Plus, based on your suggestions, the rulers now come in different colors, and you can adjust their height, width, and position on your screen. We made these changes thinking about our users with developmental disabilities and how we can better serve their needs.
Here's some good news: the ruler feature is now completely free! We get how crucial it is to have dependable reading aids, so we're committed to making Helperbird as accessible as we can for everyone.
We'd love for you to give Helperbird another try and see how the new ruler feature works for you. If you have any more ideas or need help, just email us at support@helperbird.com. Your feedback helps us keep improving.
Thanks again for taking the time to review us. We're hoping to give you a much better experience with Helperbird this time around.
Best,
Robert James Gabriel
