- Rated 3 out of 5by coldReactive, 5 months agoWorks well enough. May have problems when certain instances (like mastodon.social) updates, as it's bleeding edge unlike other instances. It also has some quirks like with misskey-likes where you have to keep it set to open a new tab.
Unless it's eventually fixed, you need to restart the extension every time you toggle "Redirect in main window." - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18431316, 6 months ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by t-low, 2 years agomy main problem was, that if you want to paste something and press something like the Ctrl key the window disappears and everything you typed is gone. This is why I deinstalled.
Developer response
posted a year agoHi t-low,
thanks a lot for your rating. I'm sorry that it does not work for you.
From what i read you pressed enter when entering your username/handle in the settings. Could you please try again without pressing enter? Settings should save automatically, enter may accidentally trigger the reset button.
You or someone else may have opened an issue on GitHub about that exact problem (https://github.com/rugk/mastodon-simplified-federation/issues/110), so let me know, if it is about the issue you describe. There I also replied with more technical details and ideas to solve this.
That said, the steps above should fix your problem and you can continue to use the extension. I would be happy if you tried it out again and report back whether that works for you.
If this helped, it would be glad if you could adjust your voting.
Best regards,

Developer response
posted 2 years agoHi beyond9thousand,
I am sorry that it does not work for mastodon.social and other instances.
The problem you mentioned is actually already known and it was found out that this was due to a compatibility issue in a new - yet unreleased - version of Mastodon (Mastodon v4). We are having a look into how that can be fixed and made compatible again in a new update of this extension.
The issue tracked in https://github.com/rugk/mastodon-simplified-federation/issues/77. Feel free to follow there follow there to get status updates.
If you have further issues or questions, feel free to ask or suggest a feature by opening an issue on https://github.com/rugk/mastodon-simplified-federation/issues. Thanks.
I hope this explanation helped and continue to have fun using the extension.
Best regards,

Setup is simple: You enter your home username and site in the preferences.
Note to anyone else reading this: Remember your username is case-sensitive! If you have mixed case in it, you have to type the capitals correctly!
