- Rated 4 out of 5by tvdinner, 7 years agoScans the bookmarks and displays them line by line. Has one block for 404'd links, and a separate block for other errors (403, 522, etc.,).
The checkmark blocks could be bigger by default, but zooming in is a quick fix. - Rated 5 out of 5by Jean-Ricky, 7 years ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13573564, 7 years agoThank you - this extension helped a lot.
In my experience, it worked as advertised. After running the extension, I spot-checked the URLs to confirm nothing "irreplaceable" had been marked. So far, so good.
I took off one star because the UI is... difficult. An example is that we have a header at the top of a given section but, we must scroll down to the bottom of the section to do something. It'd be better, in this case to have the header & action buttons in-line with each other.
Consider looking at this extension w/UX in mind. Then, it'll be an '11'!
Thanks again. - Rated 5 out of 5by Alex, 7 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13268649, 7 years agoDisappointing. Many of the bookmarks it marked as not working were absolutely fine. Unfortunately, I found out after I'd taken its word for it and deleted about a dozen. It's designed to do just one thing, and it does it badly.

posted 7 years agoThank you for your review. It would be super useful if you could give me one of the URLs that was wrongly marked as not working. Sorry for your experience. (You can also use https://github.com/evilpie/404-bookmarks/issues to report bugs) - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13482384, 7 years agoI wish there was a "Not Working" option, rather then give this 1-star. It's not like I had a bad experience exactly, it doesn't seem like it's working with Firefox 57, at least for me. When I click, I just get the page that says "List of expired bookmarks Found unexpired bookmarks." but nothing else.

- Rated 4 out of 5by LudwigWN, 7 years agoGreat extension, very useful.
One gets lots of option to choose from with a right click, eg open link, inspect element. One is not told nor able to find out where it is within all the links. Also sometimes I want to keep the link but change it to be just the base site URL.
So one very useful function to include would be "Properties" so one can view the link and update it. Could be on the right click menu or a "Properties" button like the "Remove" one. - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 13362229, 7 years agoA remove ALL button would be the BOMB but for now a fizzle...
- Rated 5 out of 5by Michaël Polla, 7 years agoI've used it several months now, and I can say it works very well. You get a list of expired bookmarks, with the reason (404, 501,...), and checking or removing a bookmark is just one click away. Before a recent update, if you had a lot of bookmarks it opened too many connections after a while, making some links appear as they were down, while they were actually working. But now I can't find any problem ! So thanks for this great, useful extension :-)
- Rated 4 out of 5by Óscar, 7 years agoIt shows so many broken/dead links, I recommend to pass more than once
- Rated 4 out of 5by Galen Thurber, 7 years agoIt overwhelmed my bandwidth after around 200 link checks.
It simply opens too many connections.
A throttle / delay control would be nice. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13293365, 7 years agoI downloaded and installed this add-on, but I there are no instructions on how to use it, so it's kind of useless. If the developer sees this, please tell me what to do! I looked at my bookmarks and there is nowhere to start the program, I tried rt-clicking on it, I even searched the web for "how to use 404 bookmarks" and found nothing. I am frustrated! I really need this thing.

- Rated 3 out of 5by shawnincarlsbad, 7 years agoIt appears to function perfectly, but inconveniently. It would be much more convenient to use if the remove link was first on the line next to the link to the website. that way i could hover over the link, see where it points, move slightly left, and click remove rather than try to move my cursor all the way along the text to the opposit side of the window to click remove

posted 7 years agoThank you for your suggestion, version 1.2 behaves like this now. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13182219, 7 years agoThis is a useful addon. I would prefer if the [Remove] was at the beginning rather than the end. This would allow much faster cleanup when you have a very large vintage bookmarks file. Should be easy to change -- just swap the output fields with the link to the right.
I too noticed the 'Unexpired bookmarks' at the beginning of the file. Don't quite understand this yet.
Keep up the good work. - Rated 3 out of 5by alekwo, 7 years agoThe tool is showing a lot of valid links with a status:
(TypeError: NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource.)
Not sure if this is due to a too short timeout or maybe some other status codes (like redirects)... but is making using the tool time consuming, as I still need to manually validate it's assessments (OK it's still better than going through all of my links manually).
There shall be an option to filter the list based on the status code (many 401s (Require Authentication) are valid links, so shall be a way to exclude them from the list).
Also, I have quite a few bookmarklets - the address actually containing javascript (starts with javascript:) - they shall be omitted from the list.
Keep up to great work, thanks a lot for your efforts to make our life easier ;-) - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13061453, 7 years agoFirst problem was working out how to launch the addon. It adds a jigsaw piece icon to the toolbar. It must say somewhere in the docs but I had to google to find out.
Biggest problem is that it says it lists 'Unexpired bookmarks'. I wondered if this is a typo for expired but many it checked and offered to remove were valid. EG:
https://www.facebook.com (TypeError: NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource.) [Remove]
Amazon.co.uk: Low Prices in Electronics, Books, Sports Equipment & more (TypeError: NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource.) [Remove]
Other links were, indeed, broken.
Others users have found it works but not here, I'm afraid. Pity.
I would file a bug report but the support link takes me to Github and I don't know how to work it. - Rated 5 out of 5by happysurf, 8 years agoVery good tool for the bookmarks.
The icon is standard and not consistent with the use of extension, please choice an other like a folder or a letter B or something like that.
In addition is very similar to an other extension "Simple Add-on Manager" at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/simple-add-on-manager/?src=api.
Better if black like the official Firefox toolbar icons.
Thanks. - Rated 5 out of 5by Deborah, 8 years agoGreat-worked well & Fast! Would be great if there were an option to delete all 404's with one click.
- Rated 3 out of 5by B-boy/StyLe/, 8 years agoSome of the sites are wrongly detected as expired. Can you add a feature to add them to a whitelist/exception list?
