Add custom search engine by Tom Schuster

by NormanFFox, 4 years agoFor whatever reason I can no longer just type in search phrases into duckuckgo.com in the main url bar with my custom settings. I simply want dark themed These options. (https://mycroftproject.com/search-engines.html?name=duckduck+dark). along with unfiltered ad free results instead of blaring white in my duckuckgo search engine. I though it would be easy to tweak back to normal. This add-on seemed promising for that purpose, but now (Friday 4-23-2021) for whatever reason its flawed for me exactly the same way reviewer Noxanne said ith a 1 out of 5 star rating (11 days before me) is. All it did was send me to the customized duckduck page colored dark but without search results (as though I typed no search phrase at all! and just typed "duckduckgo.com" ). This add-on shouldn't even be necessary, but it sounds great if it works. Its obviously broken from some Upgrade of Firefox version 80something or maybe because I have he linux version? I don't know. Good luck developers.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Anton D, 2 months agothis is the oldest (longest-used) add-on in my Firefox which is still installed.
I remember having a bliss to use this add-on instead of manually editing XMLs and starting a local web server so Firefox recognizes them.
I don't have it enabled all the time but from time to time I still enable it to add a search engine. A shame this is a hassle to do in Firefox without, other browsers I use don't have such problems. Also it's sad there is no easy way to edit a search after it's added, without re-adding it with the edits. - Rated 5 out of 5by Vojtech Sokol, 2 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by RandomDev, 3 months agoIt is the only way I've found to add SearXNG to firefox. It does what it says it does and it easy to use. Honestly Firefox should implement something like this in the Search part of the Settings as all the keyword stuff is limited by itself.

- Rated 1 out of 5by YURUZOH, 4 months agoI used to use it regularly, but after updating to Windows 11 the other day, I couldn't use it anymore.
I don't know if it's Windows 11, Firefox, extensions, something else, or all of the above, but it's very disappointing. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14497470, 4 months agoSimple and easy to use. Does what it says it does. Nicely done!
