- Rated 1 out of 5by Net_Hunter_90s, a year agoThis review is for all the users who are installing this and maybe to dev of this addon who doesnt consider firefox users or firefox browser anything anymore.
Auto Tab Discard here was updated on "Dec 17, 2022" (one can check it updates by themselves) but on chrome, (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/auto-tab-discard-suspend/jhnleheckmknfcgijgkadoemagpecfol) and on edge (https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/auto-tab-discard-suspend/nfkkljlcjnkngcmdpcammanncbhkndfe), it was recently updated on "February 17, 2024".
The most unfortunate is that there is not a single addon that allows us to suspend or discard open tabs for firefox. Even firefox team hasnt brought in the feature of memory saver like chrome did with 120 and MS edge did with 111 versions. So, if you use this addon or not on chrome or chromium browsers, it doesnt matter since chrome inbuilt settings at "chrome://settings/performance", can manage your open tabs. But for firefox users, you are third class citizens.
This addon, in terms of usage in its current format, doesnt work, because browser usage stats via task manager and CPU noise, is as same as without this addon. Also, if you restart or open your firefox browser after some time or any time, it reloads all tabs. In chrome, with same process, it keeps those pre-suspended tabs, suspended whatsoever, until, I dont click it to activate or unsuspend.
I hope users using firefox or firefox forks like librewolf, waterfox, floorp browser or iceraven browser, will look into this and request dev to update this addon and actually make it usable with firefox 124 and forks in 2024.
In short, dev prioritizes chrome addon over firefox addon and updates chrome version only and firefox addon lacks feature and doesnt help or is unusable. - Rated 2 out of 5by pablowegwerf, a year agoFor some reason, the 💤 icon no longer appears for discarded tabs! ???? Running Firefox v122 on Win10 Pro.
Update: Thank you Net_Hunter_90s for your important review post! I too have wondered why there has not been an update for over 14 months. And also noticed this add-on does not seem to function correctly or at all. The author gives the impression he has abandoned this project.
Like some other FF users, I also run with many tabs and several FF windows - so the functional purpose of this add-on is very important to me. Very unhappy that it is not functioning as designed. Please, please fix it !!! - Rated 4 out of 5by slumbergod, a year agoAs Firefox gets greedier and greedier with memory use (not to mention memory management bugs that never get fixed by devs) it is nice to be able to put unused tabs to "sleep".
Only 4 stars because the White Listing of tabs to keep them awake doesn't seem to work for me any more. - Rated 5 out of 5by MrTongue, a year agoOttima. E' personalizzabile e permette di risparmiare molta ram.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Cyberjason, a year agoI wanted to like this extension...or the concept at least but when using it, my mouse pointer would hang every few seconds when using firefox to the point I cannot use this extension anymore. I'm using a Mac Mini M1 w/ 16GB.

Possui opção de mudar o favicon quando a aba é hibernada.
Além disso, temos diversas opções para personalizar este recurso. - Rated 5 out of 5by Boyan, a year ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Cyberknight, a year agoWorks as expected, unloading tabs from memory and reducing resources usage. Unloading is done silently in the background, so it doesn't interfere with the browser mechanics. Pages that don't like to be unloaded or that should naturally always be loaded (e.g., instant messengers) may be white-listed (yes, unfortunately, they are usually the ones that drain most resources, but, c'est la vie...)

Wish there was more flexibility with session keeping. for example, I'd like all the tabs of this current window to stay active for this session. - Rated 1 out of 5by Luma, a year ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by B Tang, a year agoA useful extension for unloading inactive tabs from memory. They will reload again when you click on them. I use it together with the "Open Bookmarks Slowly" extension (with the "Discard all newly opened inactive tabs after they get loaded" option ticked in Auto Tab Discard options) so that when opening a folder full of many bookmarks one by one, each opened bookmark will be unloaded from memory immediately, otherwise the RAM gets used up and the computer slows down when opening many bookmarks.
