posted 3 years agoHi and thanks for your rating. It's great to hear that you like the add-on. 😀
Regarding the missing emoji you are referring to (https://emojipedia.org/black-cat/), I have to tell you, that this is unfortunately not yet supported in the Unicode version the add-on uses.
However, support for more new Emojis is planned and tracked in https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/issues/116. It will be released in one of the future updates, but we depend on other developers (upstream libraries) to make this happen. See the GitHub issue for more details.
Thus it may unfortunately take some time.
If you have further issues or questions, feel free to ask or suggest a feature by opening an issue on https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/issues/. Thanks.
I hope this explanation helped and continue to have fun using the extension.
Best regards,
rugk

- Rated 3 out of 5by cprn, 8 months agoAdd on would be cool if it worked reliably without a mouse but it doesn't. Version 2.0 often doesn't open the search window when invoked by keyboard shortcut (ctrl+shift+period), and when it does, 8 out of 10 times it doesn't focus the input field so you have to press the TAB key 10 times before you can start typing. Focusing the browser's address bar (ctrl+L) and writing "emoji" works every time but it's still 6 key strokes so not that much better.
I tried to debug the focus issue and my best guess is it manages to invoke the `focusElement()` function and correctly focuses the input field but then the focus is moved to something else during the pop up render or creation.
IMHO searching through the browser's address bar would be better if this add-on provided a search engine instead - then every user would be able to configure their own keyword - or if the keyword was something short by default, like a "." (period character).
Other than that, it's an okay add-on. - Rated 5 out of 5by dimaxano, 8 months ago

posted a year agoHi, thanks a lot for your rating. I see your point of not liking voting prompts.
I can reassure you the likelihood to see such a prompt is very low and e.g. only shown after you have used the extension sometime and not shown again if you have dismissed it once.
As this add-on is open-source, you can also check it's source code at https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/blob/main/src/common/modules/data/Tips.js to see more details, of you are interested.
Also notice there are other helpful tips that may occasionally been shown, but they are really kept to a minimum and many users do e.g. not know that they can help the add-on and support it by writing a review.
I am afraid this has disturbed you and want to apologise. If you have further issues or questions, feel free to ask or suggest a feature by opening an issue on https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/issues/. Thanks.
I hope this explanation helps to explain why it is done the way it is. As an independent add-on author I am always happy about good add-on ratings.
Best regards,

posted 2 years agoHi FILLYFINGERZ,
Thanks for your rating. It's great to hear that you like the add-on. 😀
If you are interested, there are things you can do to contribute to this project in various ways (even without coding skills), e.g. by translating the add-on. See https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md for details.

- Rated 1 out of 5by seika, 2 years agoSeriously people, stop making these stupid ass toolbar menus. Why the fuck would i want to go all the way up there when i should be able to simply right click and access the menu like in opera. Only firefox users and reddit users would appreciate such an annoying limitation.
Developer response
posted 2 years agoHi seika,
thanks for your rating. I see that you want to have a quicker way to access the toolbar or emoji picker add-on.
As far as I see, I can provide you with some tips, so you can try out whether they work for you:
1. You can customize the toolbar in Firefox, so the icon is always shown and you can access it with one click: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/customize-firefox-controls-buttons-and-toolbars
2. This extension can also be accessed with a hot key, by default it is Ctrl+Shift+Period.
3. Finally, you can also access it in the address bar, if you enable that feature. See https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/wiki/FAQ#how-to-use-the-address-bar-to-search-for-emojis for more information. You could e.g. press Ctrl+L to access the address bar and then type "emoji" to find any emoji.
Furthermore the optional integration into the context menu, so the picker can be accessed with right click is tracked in https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/issues/45 and already implemented. It will be included in the next release.
Apart from all of that, I unfortunately see no way to help you here as the add-on developer of the Awesome Emoji Picker extension. I cannot influence where Firefox places the toolbar buttons or so.
If your message was meant to be directed to Firefox, please direct that to them and e.g. share your ideas and feedback on https://connect.mozilla.org/.
If this helps, it would be glad if you could adjust your voting, as there is nothing more I can do here as an extension developer, unfortunately.
Apart from that, if you have any other ideas or issues, feel free to get in touch.
Best regards
rugk
