by mystera, 7 years agoPerforming search on multiple engines simultaneously is a great idea. But having them opened in a new window is a terrible one (way too counterproductive).

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 18451997, 23 days agothere is no way to memorize shortcut keys, there is no way to disable GLOBAL keyboard shortcut and keyword rather than deleting 1 by 1, its annoying this extension replacing "Ctrl+C" (copy)

posted 15 days agoWhich version of the extension are you using? If you can't memorize shortcut keys, then please file an issue on GitHub detailing the steps to reproduce the bug. You can easily change a keyboard shortcut by selecting it and using whatever key combination you fancy. Alternatively, you can use the "Clear all keyboard shortcuts" button to remove all of them. However, I do recognise that using ctrl+c as a shortcut was a terrible mistake, so I've removed that keyboard shortcut in the latest release 5.0.5. Developer response

2. Can't import *.json
It can't do anything at all.

1. Sadly, Mozilla offer no API to export search engines from Firefox. Other extensions use a hack (which I am not keen on using) to get around this.
2. After enabling the required permission for Downloads, you may export (and subsequently import) your saved search engines.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Alex Mirnov, 2 months ago1)

Upd.
Upd. Developer response
posted 2 months agoHey Alex, Many thanks for reporting these issues. Please also make a small effort to write in English so that everyone can get a chance to understand. Google translate is your friend:
1) Does not accept old saves, had to do everything again.
2) Resets saved sites to standard ones after restarting the computer (permission granted).
3) Standard sites use conflicting (with Microsoft) hotkeys, who invented it?
I'm very sorry for the trouble encountered, especially for 1 & 2. I have released an update (v5.0.3) which should fix this issue. Concerning the 3rd item, i.e. the bad choice of keyboard shortcuts for Windows users, it's been reported on GitHub and I've added a button to clear all keyboard shortcuts so users can add their own. https://imgur.com/a/JqGE8a2 - Rated 5 out of 5by zsyjk, 2 months ago
- Rated 3 out of 5by BZ, 2 months agoOverall good, but several of the default keyboard shortcuts are the same as Firefox keyboard shortcuts, leading to confusing behavior (at least on Windows, not sure about others).

So, Selection Search is better.

posted 3 months agoThis extension has an Icons Grid and you can also search in the url address bar. There's no need for a popup! Please read the extension's description. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17044199, 4 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12810666, 5 months agoVery useful now that Google apps buttons are broken below Google searchbar in Europe. I miss the Maps button that allowed a direct link to open.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Alan, 5 months ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15332048, 6 months agoFirst of all, thank you for the plugin. I would suggest you add just one feature. The position of the icon grid can sometimes cause problems. It would be nice if we could adjust the Icon Grid position to get rid of this situation.

posted 6 months agoStarting from v4.7.8 you can now position the Icons Grid using horizontal and vertical offsets in the Options page. - Rated 5 out of 5by Mr.Andersan, 6 months ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18109236, 8 months agoFantastic plug in - except that being the non coding type, I can't quite figure out how to add a search engine manually...it seems to me that when I first installed Context search some time ago, the read me/about this extension contained more specific instructions for doing thus than:
* add a search engine manually via the Options page (you can test the query string before adding the search engine) *
Obviously the search query strings are quite different for each site and I'm not sure how to locate them
Otherwise thank you so much - I prefer this extension to "ContextSearch web-ext", linked on the mycroftproject.com site...less bells and whistles, less is more ;oDeveloper response

posted a year agoHi, access to the clipboard is required if and when you want to copy or paste the base64 string of an icon to or from the clipboard (when you're creating a custom icon). That's the only time that access to the clipboard is needed.
UPDATE: Clipboard access is no longer required to copy/paste the base64 string of favicons. However, clipboard write access is now required to paste prompts into AI search engine web pages.
