- Rated 5 out of 5by hamsterwolf, a year agoThis is, without a doubt, THE best extension I've ever seen on Firefox. Browsing YouTube is now a pleasant, stress-free experience that no longer makes me feel irritated or angry by moronic thumbnails. I just wish we could toggle it for certain channels since I do enjoy seeing Binging Wish Babish's thumbnails, but that's an extremely small price to pay for the peace of mind this brings.
- Rated 4 out of 5by ds, a year agoit's great but when i open youtube video it's lag unit somthing happen which i suspect is loading recomnded video thumbnail i have i laptop with 16 gigabyte of ram i think that could be the reson for this lags

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 15007095, a year agoUnfortunately it conflicts with "BlockTube", which is number 2 priority addon for me for youtube (3 is being SponsorBlock), so i have to disable it for now. But otherwise it's pretty good so far.
Reply (12.07):
I think i mostly have the default settings, but to be fair, its kind of a little buggy addon by itself, and i never found any better alternative.
It did work ok 3-4 days before that (ignoring the thumbnail and general lag), but after that some videos just suddenly stopped playing altogether, and other ones break mid-play, and disabling "dearrow" instantly stopped all of it.Developer response
posted a year agoInteresting, it shouldn't. Are there specific settings you have enabled in BlockTube that conflict?
Edit: oh that's a separate issue, but that should be fixed now - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15695248, a year agoI have been dreaming of this addon for years. Ajay Ramachandran is a god among us. Thank you Ajay for all that you do!
- Rated 4 out of 5by showers, a year agoI absolutely love this addon and the concept behind it, but unfortunately, it seems to be very resource-intensive, causing my videos to chug along and lag for the first few seconds while it attempts to load many thumbnails, on top of causing all thumbnails to load slowly...

posted a year agoThe thumbnail generation service I'm running has gone down to due a storage issue, so it is falling back to local generation, which is probably causing those issues. I'll look into making the local generation work better in the future when outages happen. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17970984, a year agoI think this add-on is a great idea, and like many other reviewers, I didn't really know I needed this until I turned it on.
Currently, my only issue is that this app seems to really mess with the initial loading of videos, like it will stutter or not start in the first 10~20 seconds before returning to normal performance.
This will only get better as more people start contributing to the process, but even now, not being exposed 24/7 to clickbait and other means to tug at your attention span makes a world of difference.
Edit: Thank you for the response. It seems thumbnail generation service is back online, and as long as local generation performance can be improved, I think that might be the better long term solution, but I'm not here to tell you how to run the add-on.Developer response

Wish it had more community contributions but that will come with time. Love that it's open source, keep up the good work

- Rated 1 out of 5by Charlie S, a year agoI do not agree that there should be a pay wall for late adopters. That makes it more difficult to get good crowd sourcing metrics, which is required for good performance.

posted a year agoThe idea is to have an easy enough free access system to not cause any issues like that, but time will tell how it works out - Rated 4 out of 5by Dark Moyan, a year agoI never knew I need this but now I really need this. I just hope you will add Original vs custom/random thumbnail so we could see the original and the random one.

posted a year agoOf you hover the title, there is a button to swap. You can make it always appear in the options - Rated 5 out of 5by Saturn9, a year ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by hoggys2much, a year agoTotal utter garbage! Tried it and Youtube completely DIED on me. Pages were still trying to load even after 5 minutes. Nothing worked, I had to close down all my Youtube tabs and it slowed down Firefox something rotten. I have deleted this utter garbage from add-ons. Do not use.

As described in an earlier reply, I am current working on a fix for improved performance on Firefox. I should have it out today or tomorrow :) - Rated 5 out of 5by EcoRadium, a year ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by DeAndre Queary, a year agoSeems to be working. It's by the same dev as Sponsor Block so im keeping it. 👌🏾
- Rated 4 out of 5by Throwawayaccount, a year agoThis addon most definitely has potential! I find that video's have started buffering... if i click at the video bar on the right I see the video tiles slowly appear. Either way I will keep trying this addon and if the buffering gets bad put it on the sideline and check back on it. Either way 4/5 stars buds! Nice job!
Edit: Thanks for the update! I do understand that it is in a 'Alpha/Beta' stage. I made an account just to give a 'Bug' or 'RFC' or 'Feedback' and once gain thank you for your effort!Developer response

Still working out some issues, so I haven't released it yet, but the next update should help fix this by switching how the thumbnails are rendered on the page (By using Image elements instead of Canvas elements)
