by Firefox user 14207336, 3 years agoRequiring global permissions for a website-specific extension is beyond egregiously invasive, and signals to me that the creators of the extension harbour some kind of ill intent against my privacy for their own benefit. ReviewMeta, a competing service, has an extension which does not require global permissions.

Thanks for your feedback. We do not harbor any kind of ill intent against your privacy. Instead, we greatly value your privacy and encourage you to read our privacy policy.
We require these permissions because we analyze hundreds of thousands of Shopify web stores. Other popular shopping extensions such as Honey and Rakuten require the same permissions because they also have to work on many websites.
While we cannot comment on Reviewmeta's privacy practices, their service only analyzes Amazon. Fakespot analyzes Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Best Buy, Sephora, and Shopify web stores.
If you have any questions about our privacy policy and practices please email us at contact@fakespot.com.
Best,
Fakespot
