- Rated 5 out of 5by Naglis, 25 days agoGreat add-on to curb your social media usage. Initialy it did't work due to non english language, however as prescribed in the describtion, once swithing FB language to english, all ads and garbage recomended posts disappeared. Perfect, it's 10/10
- Rated 5 out of 5by ArneWeise, 4 months agoWorked well until a few weeks ago, now it doesn't block anything.
- Rated 1 out of 5by n3ver, 5 months agoNot working. Reels suggestions are still there albeit blocked in the add-on settings.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Dean Heistand, 8 months agoThis extension works well for me. I would like to see an option of being able to view a reel that was shared by a FB friend. Perhaps something as simple as a "View blocked Reel" button where it indicates a reel has been blocked? Thank you to the developer for developing this, it was sorely needed!
- Rated 5 out of 5by David J, 10 months agoJust installed it and am still monitoring but it appears, after going through the configuration settings, that it's doing exactly what it was designed to do. I have a FB business page that's always dumping reels and "suggested for you" garbage on me and this extension has stopped them all, so far. The only reels or videos I'm seeing are ones that I've allowed through folks I'm "following". 5 stars.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Rated 3 out of 5by Ide, a year agoIt works, remember you need to have your facebook language set on english(US) for it to work.
My only issue is that is wrongly flags normal shared post and reels and blocks them - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15185905, a year ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 17789087, a year agoIt really is very good and does get rid of those irritating reels.
Sadly I've mislaid Mitchell's email and can't seem to be able to get in touch directly, but this addon also seems to hide the "create facebook post" box, replacing it with a "Facebook hide recommendations and reels v1.26.28" message; quite annoying when in the middle of preparing a post as you have to refresh the facebook page to be able to get the "post" box back and then the draft messag is gone!Developer response
posted a year agoHey,
Sorry on the delay.
Create an issue on my github page if you need any more help :) - https://github.com/mrinc/F-B-Hide-Recommendations-and-Reels/issues and let's check it out.
I did just push a change that allows you to configure if you want to hide/show the create post - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15026486, a year agoJust installed it. I appreciate that it doesn't just jump to a webpage in plain text explaining how it works, but it's a no-nonsense intro with the actual toggles there.
Super simple to set up. So far it works like a charm. Thank you, facebook is downright unusable without a tool like this.
<3 - Rated 3 out of 5by Nibinaear, a year agoIt just seems to be blinking posts on and off and not scrolling properly anymore.
To developer: ThanksDeveloper response
posted a year agoHey,
It will hide posts as you scroll as they appear.
What I have noticed is sometimes fb just bombards you with stuff that is going to be hidden, so you'll see is flicker quite a bit while it hides a ton... then fb pushes new items to the main feed and it continues.
After a few seconds it calms and all is normal.
If it's being weird, try just a refresh of fb and see if that helps.
If you are still having issues, please log a ticket on our github repo and we can work on a solution :)
-- update 05/Nov/2023
I just pushed an update now where it doesn't hide the elements in small boxes, but rather covers them so they match the background... Once you start scrolling very far down the feed and you trigger any action, you end up somewhere ... so this fixes that :) - Rated 5 out of 5by kishorfarm, 2 years ago10/10 it works great. Thanks. I had to change Language to English but once done it worked flawlessly. I also added a rule to uBlock Origin to hide the "Was a reel before" boxes.

posted 2 years agoWe're waiting on firefox to release a new version ... hopefully this month...
But the new version contains a heap of updates, which include config options to hide those boxes if you do not want to see them, more languages and more configurable options.
You'll know when you have the update though ... a popup will apear for you to configure the plugin - when that happens, you can remove the ublock rules since they wont be needed anymore :)
** Update: new version released - you should be good to go now :) - Rated 1 out of 5by ThisBrowserFellOff, 2 years agoWaste of time. Doesn't achieve the one goal it set out accomplish. Currently using Fb in English, yet Suggested posts and reels still visible. Add-on doesn't even retain any settings you change.

posted 2 years agoHi Browser falling off :)
Please could you log an issue on our github page: https://github.com/mrinc/Facebook-Hide-Recommendations-and-Reels/issues
And we can see why it's not working for you.
It is possible that FB changed something or for what ever reason, it just doesn't render on your side.
If you go F12/Dev Tools - and look at the console.
You should see 'contentCleaner' log events in the console.
If you do not see anything - then the plugin hasn't loaded on the page
- you can try refresh the page as well to see if it loads. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17568747, 2 years ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Nicoco, 2 years agoIt works as long as I set Facebook language to English. It would be nice if it worked in other languages too.
Developer response
posted 2 years agoHey Nicoco,
You can add a new lang yourself by submitting a PR (push request) or log an issue with the details - https://github.com/mrinc/Facebook-Hide-Recommendations-and-Reels
And we can add additional languages :) - Rated 1 out of 5by Pariah, 2 years agoAs far as I can tell this addon does nothing. 107.0.1, Linux Mint 19.3
Developer response
posted 2 years agoWhat website language do you have set?
https://github.com/mrinc/Facebook-Hide-Recommendations-and-Reels
It is possible we do not hanve your language and thus don't do anything to prevent breaking the page altogether.
If you open up dev tools, you should see logs from the plugin to verify what it is doing :) - Rated 4 out of 5by Vale, 2 years agoSometimes works, sometimes not. Recently it was removed from Chrome store for violating the store policy. I'm not sure if it's safe or not to use.
Developer response
posted 2 years agoYea... FB flagged us for violating their trademark -_-
But you can view all the source here : https://github.com/mrinc/Facebook-Hide-Recommendations-and-Reels
And since google wont repub unless fb give the ok, and fb wont allow a repub ... we had to create a new extension :/
Stupid - but we got OK now with new ext and branding - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fb-hide-recommendations-a/mgfdapnedjhfmhcaglenpnjaocjpfplj?hl=en-GB&authuser=0 - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14149517, 2 years agoEverything works, except that it also hides the story section, and I don't see any option that disables that feature.
Developer response
posted 2 years agoAdded an issue for this: https://github.com/mrinc/Facebook-Hide-Recommendations-and-Reels/issues/8
- Pushed and live for Firefox - when your plugin updates, there is a setting you can enable/disable stories (1.20.8)
