Reviews for Firefox Color
Firefox Color by Mozilla Firefox

by nirwana, 3 years agoI really like the idea of this addon to make Firefox more beautiful.
Once I had a nice theme with red and yellow-colors in the presets, but I cannot seem to be able to get it back.
I exported the theme.zip and the theme.xpi, I even tried to add it to the Firefox Marketplace (because Firefox Color suggests to do so, but it was rejected).
When I look inside the theme.xpi I can understand, because it only contains a manifest.json with just some colors defined. I guess that is enough for Firefox Color, but it would be nice if this would write a complete theme.xpi that I can easily distribute to others.
Now I also created a theme with a custom background, but I could not share this by using the Share-button (because it uses a custom background). I would expect that the custom background can be saved as a base64-image and then will be able to share it.
When that would mean that it does not fit in a regular URL than Mozilla can save the theme somewhere online, make it publicly available and just enable sharing the short url with other people.
By using that the complete theme can be downloaded by other users, so they can install it into their Firefox. Then people can easily design themes for their community, just like they can now do using the Firefox light themes (using custom toolbar backgrounds).
IMHO, this extension could have so much more possibilities in the near future.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Zielski, 20 days agoIt's always been a very good plugin, and now I'm concerned about its recent malfunctions. Every time I launch Firefox, I have to turn this plugin off and back on in order to actually make it work. Please fix?

Edit: It keeps reverting, changing it to "firefox-color@mozilla.org" has not made it revert yet. - Rated 3 out of 5by tanino, 21 days agoThis add-om longer works as of newest versions of Firefox. I hope it will soon be updated so that it can work again since I have used this add-on for years without any issues. Since the last update it no longer functions until manually enabled, some parts still don't function after manually enabling. Dependencies and deprecations are likely to blame.

- Rated 3 out of 5by BlohoJo, a month agoUsed to work great; in Firefox 132 it often doesn't work when the browser starts and backgrounds all revert to white. Worked great in at least Firefox 109 and earlier. It also no longer affects top menu bar menu backgrounds and right-click menu backgrounds. This is one of the reasons I don't normally update the browser... because it breaks extensions and it's a nightmare and takes hours of time to try to troubleshoot, often with no resolution. Very frustrating.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Kefei Wu, a month agoThe theme itself is very interesting, yet there seems to be some problem when using with nightly 133.0a1 Once the firefox is closed the next time it opens the colour theme only pop up for a second then disappear. This happened when using 'always inprivate' as well as normal tabs (I have select the add-on to working while inprivate mode) . I wounder if there is a bad setting or some problem when using with nightly.
