Reviews for Ghostery – Privacy Ad Blocker
Ghostery – Privacy Ad Blocker by Ghostery
Review by Az
Rated 4 out of 5
by Az, a year agoAbsolutely loved Ghostery for the time I used it, but it seems as if ads are becoming far more aggressive. Youtube in of itself has removed overlay ads and now they easily skate by the Ghostery blocker to play before every video starts.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Wayfinder, 11 days agoGhostery is sometimes great, sometimes not so great. I have seen it allow through multiple pop-up "Adult" ads (for X-rated games especially) while triggering the YouTube "We're about to stop your viewing" warning. I understand this is an ongoing war between Google and ad-blockers, and Google needs to wise up both in the number of ads it employs on YouTube and their length (a 30 second ad every 3 minutes on a video is ridiculous). And if Ghostery won't stop X-rated ads, what value is it?
This is a complex field and I sympathize with the company. It does stop a LOT of ads and the settings are versatile (allowing to restrict some sites while blocking others). But it doesn't really do all the job all the time... and the YouTube war is a real problem for the whole industry since Google seems to have no common sense whatsoever. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18232795, 12 days ago
