About this extension
More and more websites display large, annoying cookie banners that ask you to accept all sorts of advertising cookies and otherwise block your view of the website. Often, these banners also offer the option to disagree the cookies, but hidden in submenus that like to take longer to navigate than reading the actual content of the website.
Interestingly, these banners are often part of a framework used by developers of many different websites, and thus almost identical cookie banners can be found all over the Internet.
This add-on knows the identification characteristics of quite a few of these cookie banner frameworks and is thus able to detect cookie banners on many websites. If such a banner is found, the plugin sets the CSS property "display: none" for it, which hides the banner. It also undoes other effects of the banner, if any, such as darkening the rest of the website or blocking the scroll function.
This way, you can enjoy the Internet again without being permanently disturbed by cookie banners.
-------------------------------------------
As described above, the function of this plugin is based on the detection of common cookie banner frameworks. These are detected based on specific features they leave in the source code of the website. Since such frameworks are constantly under development and also not all websites for cookie banners rely on preexisting frameworks, unfortunately no hundred percent success rate can be guaranteed. However, the author can tell you from personal experience with the plugin that it significantly reduces the frequency of cookie banners.
