by HardKoreG, 4 years agoIs there a way to change the color of the page/background when switching to a tab that was opened in the background (i.e. using Ctrl+Shift+Click)? I use css to change the blinding white flash from opening a tab, but doesn't work on tabs with this extension.
I use dark theme in Windows and Firefox. In Firefox, there is a white flash for a split second before the page loads when you open a new tab. I use CSS to fix that, but it doesn't cover the tabs created by this extension. Tabs that are prevented from loading in the background or when switching to a discarded tab, the white flash happens. The CSS doesn't affect this extension's tabs.
I submitted to r/firefoxcss to see if anyone can help: https://www.reddit.com/r/FirefoxCSS/comments/h93b9m/white_flash_fix_not_working_with_loadtabonselect/
Edit: I got a message from someone on reddit that suggested doing this: "I'd suggest emailing the author to change the background color of the page. It's a moz-extension url with a white background and I don't think that can be modified by another extension like Dark Reader. Looking at the code, it would be the file "tab.html" that needs to be changed to have a dark background. The author could also have an option to change the page to any color, like: "moz-extension://.../tab.html?bgcolor=black?url=..."."
Would that work? Could you implement it?

- Rated 4 out of 5by jamesdeluk, a year agoGreat extension and speeds up my browsing, but I would love a way to make it work with Distill Web Monitor (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/distill-web-monitor-ff/) which automatically opens (and subsequently auto-closes) tabs - whitelisting the moz-extension URL doesn't seem to work.

One thing to note is that this is extremely useful for sites that stop you from opening too many links at once by 504ing you, rule34 especially putting on pause tabs and then unpause 1 at a time will bypass the 504ing of you, some sites like idolcomplex/danboorudonami will still 504 you for some reason but that site monitors you a little more
for fixing common issues like opening tabs too quickly or in very specific ways it'll make the tab weird and unusable till you just refresh it but if that doesn't work then duplicate it which is a guarantee that it'll fix. Another way is bookmarking all and then reopening them that way but firefox has an issue where if over 100 or 150 tabs bookmarking them all at the same time will make you lose a random amount of them in the process between 2 to 4 of the tabs will refuse to bookmark so duplicating is still best.
Only other issues seen are on sites that are booru looking like danbooru, rule34 or realbooru etc etc if you are to open a hundred links with loadontabselect pause feature on and then use onetab while tabs are in pause feature some of the tabs will lock after reopening them through onetab and cannot be unlocked by duplicating or refreshing but this is usually very rare that this happens and is hard to replicate too so its most likely fine on those types of image sites that are laid out like those. And last small issue thats seen is when pausing 200 or more tabs and then doing unpause one tab at a time sometimes it'll fail and stop a quarter the way through, while it is rare too it seems to happen for me when alt tabbing to another window and doing something on a tab that requires more internet usage like loading a quality video or long video but that's the only thing I've seen do it
still my fav extension ever
(update, after using this extension for a while its still amazing
This is the fucking best extension ever I googled every keyword I possibly could to find this exact thing and after an hour finally found this it's literally perfect for opening many bookmarks at once the feature that loads the next paused tab once you're on the 1 before it makes this perfect thank you so much for making this please keep updating as well this is one of the most underrated extensions ever - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14234915, 2 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Ahmed, 2 years ago5 stars for being the most well developed fork... but it's confusing and maybe too many features (that are covered by other add-ons like ATD) and asks for so much permissions...
One thing I currently do not use it is because the tabs still load in the background partially (the text). I wish it would be a pure unload like the way "Tab Unloader" extension is. If you will use that extension you will see what I mean: the tabs do not load anything and there is not even a blinking. - Rated 5 out of 5by Principis, 3 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by B Tang, 5 years agoI have tried many similar add-ons and this is the best one that is still working with current versions of Firefox. The options are very useful. The one to "Discard the loaded tab when loading the prevented tabs sequentially" unloads the tabs as they are loaded, saving memory when loading a lot of bookmarks.

- Rated 5 out of 5by OliviaZoe0, 6 years agoWorks great. Also beats some of the other plugins, and doesn't trigger a "no HTTPS" warning on the paused tab. The update also fixed an issue with HTTPS Everywhere

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 12302629, 6 years agoThe addon would be very good if it worked properly, when loading some pages appears on the page only a cryptic text and I'm no longer on the original page, very bad. The addon page does not bother to load even though it is on the whitelist.
I will deactivate it as long as the errors have not been fixed.Developer response
posted 6 years agoIt would be better to uninstall it rather than deactivate it. The probability that the bug will be fixed will be quite low. Because there is an unlimited number of pages on the Internet, and it is very unlikely that the author of the add-on will encounter one of the some pages that you say by chance. Even if the author encounters one of the some pages, if the add-on was deactivated at that time then the bug will not be detected. That is why I think it is of little hope. - Rated 5 out of 5by YFdyh000, 6 years ago
