by EllieM, 4 days agoYeah no thanks I'm reporting this. Read all the 1* reviews about unnencessary bloat and locking basic features behind a paywall. The author thinks it's obvious what the extension is for, and obvious that functionality is limited without payment.
They replied to one review, saying 'MaxFocus offers more than just link previews, with features like AI and themes, all clearly mentioned "on the box."'.
Well, first search for the extension in the add-ons store: it's called "MaxFocus: Link Preview".
Then find it in FF's extension manager: it's called "MaxFocus: Link Preview & AI Assistant".
Regarding providing link previews only (which lets face it will be the reason why most people install this without reading the bottom half of the description where you buried the PRO limitations) ... that functionality only 'requires resources' if the author chooses to build it in a way that is profitable for the author. There are other better, not-functionally-restricted extensions that manage to accomplish only providing link previews by using only your device's resources, because their author instead chose to build them in a way that is functionally useful to the user.
Finally, if you read this far, your settings to disable the AI buttons don't even work.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18236946, 2 months agoReally enhances Firefox with modern features. Very useful! The only minor issue I have is that I can't chat with previewed PDFs. Clicking on any button leads to a `TypeError: i is null` in the console. Hope it'll be fixed in an upcoming update :)

- Rated 4 out of 5by pda, 2 months agolike arc's peek feature but better, much cleaner UI and it has a lot of functionality and customisability. one thing i wish that could be changed is the ability to completely remove the AI features altogether. I don't have any use for them so cleaning up these elements would be ideal for me personally.
Developer response
posted 2 months agoHello, thank you very much for the feedback. If you're looking to remove AI features completely, our PRO no AI plan has no AI features at all. For free users, you can also disable them! Just go to the options page and set "Show AI prompt suggestions" and "Show the AI chat button on every page" to false. - Rated 1 out of 5by Robson Ricardo, 2 months agoThe extension is good, but charging for link previews is downright ridiculous. The 'free' plan has a limit of 100 previews, and after that, you have to pay. I understand putting AI features behind a paywall, but link previews should be free.

posted 2 months agoHey Robson, thank you for the feedback. Providing unlimited previews does require resources, which is why we have paid plans. The free plan offers daily free previews, and the Pro plan is a one-time payment—pay once, and you use it forever.
You can also share our extension with others to earn extra free previews for each friend who joins. - Rated 1 out of 5by Chloe, 2 months agoAll this extension needed to be was what it says on the box; preview links without opening the tab. Instead, MaxFocus adds in unnecessary bloat like themes, a search bar(???), AI features and puts it all into a box covered in unnecessarily expensive wrapping paper. (But it's always on sale, so don't worry! You're saving money!)
The bloat makes this not worth installing.Developer response
posted 2 months agoChloe, thanks for the feedback. MaxFocus offers more than just link previews, with features like AI and themes, all clearly mentioned "on the box." These extras are optional and add flexibility. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13956377, 2 months agoI can't express enough how impressive this extension is! It's exceptionally useful and remarkably intuitive. The design is both sophisticated and minimalist, making it a delight to use.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13340935, 2 months ago
This link preview plugin has significantly enhanced my browsing experience! It saves me a lot of time by eliminating the need to click into pages, making it truly click-and-go. For those who frequently need to quickly preview search results, this is a very practical tool. I recommend it to users who also seek an efficient browsing experience! - Rated 5 out of 5by Win Ee, 2 months agoI primarily use this app for the link preview function. This helps me a lot when I do research, as I often found myself opening numerous tabs and clicking through them. This leads to a lot of clutter as I also forget to close them afterwards. With link preview, I get to see the page first to see if it is worthwhile. If it is, then I open it and maybe pin it. This has saved me a lot of time and I appreciate it. Thanks, developers.
I can't speak much on the AI functions as I don't use it very much because I already have other paid extensions that do the same thing. However, it does seem competitive with offerings from similar extensions such as TinaMind. What would be a good future feature is to add image generation capabilities as well, and have a prompting library. - Rated 5 out of 5by benny, 2 months ago讓我從 Arc 瀏覽器再次回歸的神級擴充功能,顏值高而且反應迅速。
還提供永久授權版,不會被月費綁死又能支持開發者,大力推薦。 - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 18599118, 2 months agoGreat, just wish it could distinguish if the URL being clicked normally is part of another domain and automatically using the Popup (Like Arc)
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15147821, 3 months agoThe link preview is amazing -- sort of overwhelmed with all the other stuff, but the link preview alone feels like a missing feature of wikipedia etc, and I feel stifled when I use a machine that isn't running it.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Yandong, 3 months agoI reported two problems three months ago, and they're still not resolved as of version 0.4.10:
1. If you use it to preview an online PDF document and click the URL, it will open Google instead of the PDF.
2. Pages previewed by MaxFocus will not go into browser history, please provide an option to make it also appear in browser history.
