- Rated 4 out of 5by Ollie, 3 days agoI've found Orbit to be decently useful for me so far as a summary tool. I like the fact that it seems designed with that main purpose in mind. I also very much appreciate the steps taken to preserve user privacy.
My number one request however would be to include a Dark Mode option for the panels and widget. The current light theme clashes heavily with my dark browser theme and pages using a dark layout.
I'll definitely continue using this add-on, and I look forward to seeing how it develops with future updates. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18692967, 8 days agoGreat little buddy to have alongside ChatGPT in my browser. I hope you guys continue to improve on it and who knows maybe some day it becomes a core feature of the browser.
I appreciate that it's an actually private tool as one of the main things that drove me away from Microsoft Edge into Firefox was the Copilot AI not only being rather invasive but also doing its best to hide the fact that it is invasive.
Orbit has proven to be quite useful so far and I can't really say I have any complaints about it.
The only feature I'd like to see, is a dark mode for it's UI; as it is quite jarring having my whole screen dark and suddenly BAM, bright white screen right there.
Other than that, I'm pretty pleased with my experience with Orbit c: - Rated 5 out of 5by doesthiscount, 9 days ago
- Rated 3 out of 5by Jean Anton, 9 days agoDear Mozilla Team,
I appreciate using Orbit for summarization, but it would be incredibly useful if it could provide summaries or responses in the language of the webpage or offer translations. This feature would greatly enhance its usability for non-English speakers.Developer response
posted 9 days agoThank you for this feedback! Orbit is currently in Beta and only supporting English but we are currently finding ways to support more languages as we speak. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16270075, 15 days ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Mascus, 20 days agoThis is an incredible add-on. Well done, team, for making it so useful and responsive. The AI is also really great and non-distracting in its responses.
May I ask that you add a keyboard shortcut to bring up a chat window or something? It would just feel a lot more fluid that way. The orb (clever naming btw) can be a bit distracting, partly because its animated.
I'm super happy with it just need a keyboard shortcut to make it stealthier.
Cheers for all your work so far.Developer response
posted 16 days agoThat's great feedback! And thank you for the kind words as well. The keyboard shortcuts should be coming in the coming iterations : ) - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16840780, 24 days ago

- Rated 3 out of 5by FrogPog, a month agoI really like this addon! You can summarize giant webpages/videos into some sentences! But, it have some issues: 1. Minimal orb format always snaps to right border. Would be nice if user could snap it to the left, bottom or top. 2 Orb position resets when changing tabs / going to another link. 3. Orb sometimes randomly disappears (enabling on/off don't help) (yeah my english is very bad because it's not my first language 😄)

- Rated 2 out of 5by kris33, a month agoWorks good, but extremely annoying UI.
This adds a massive floating element to all webpages by default. You can make it smaller, but it's still on top of pages instead of better places built for add-ons, like the toolbar. Imagine if other extensions did it like this, it would be massively annoying. It's like the Clippy/BonziBuddy UI, just duller.
You can't summarize the things you usually want to summarize either, like links you haven't clicked on yet. That's probably the most useful use-case for summarization, "do I want to consume the contents on this link or is it clickbait?". This plugin can't do that, the UI is both intrusive and useless.
The Kagi extension has a WAY better UI (but the summarization itself is often broken unfortunately, so alternatives are needed.)Developer response

The ability to summarize links on a page is a great idea and one we'll add to our backlog.
We'll continue to evolve the UI thanks to great feedback like this.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Oxilotic., a month agoPretty good as far as AI extensions go. Hate that floating orb though, wish it was optional. Perhaps a right click or toolbar click could be avaliable as options?
Good work regardless.Developer response
posted a month agoThank you for the kind review! A new patch just went out today with a new "minimal" setting for the "orb" that makes it less prominent. - Rated 5 out of 5by es-rene99, a month agoI do wish the floating widget was optional, so I could select the options by clicking the extension on my extensions bar, but it does it's job and I like privacy oriented AI, awesome!
- Rated 2 out of 5by oxk4r, a month agoSummmaries are too short and lacking detail. Needs more options.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Ovcheric, a month agoPlease remove the floating widget. There should be a button for summarizing the content from within the extensions toolbar. Also, please add the ability to set custom prompts.

That's worth at least one star in my book. Excited to update this once I can try it on my computer though! Beautiful branding and design 👌🏼

- Rated 5 out of 5by Theeo123, 2 months agoForegoing the discussion of AI in general and leaving that for a different time & place.
If you WANT to use AI in your workflow, this is a pretty handy tool. it's quick, easy to access, and the summaries it generates are succinct, easily readable, and helpful.
it is NOT a general purpose AI, it is meant specifically for summarizing content, and for that purpose it does a very good job.
