- Rated 3 out of 5by Phoenix_IV, 7 years ago* Error: Blocks all new windows, even when clicking "open link in new window" or opening a new window from the Firefox main menu! (if enabled global)
* Good to use by putting certain sites on the black-list.
* Minor: When a pop-up was blocked and I click "allow once" via the add-on symbol, it does not open the pop-up, but starts the "all pop-ups allowed for 20 seconds" countdown. If that is what the button does, why change its label to "allow once"?
Result: Simple add-on. Still helps. Will continue using.
* Idea: Implement per-host settings
* Suggestion: Option to block pop-ups / tabs from other hosts than the current - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13536436, 7 years agoI've tried 5 popup blockers since Mozilla forced this update on us and my old one stopped working. This is the only one I've tried that actually works and has so far blocked 100% of popups on video sites absolutely rife with dodgy popups.
However it is unfortunately a little... too effective and will disable your ability to right click to open new tabs or windows unless you whitelist those sites or click allow after trying to open it - neither of which are overly practical for normal browsing habits. So it definitely needs to be improved to be able to tell the difference between deliberate user actions and automated popups. I've ended up setting it to allow all new tabs but block all new windows since most popups are new windows anyway and I rarely right click and open in new window instead of new tab.
It's a bit of a compromise but it works. Frankly I'm amazed that Mozilla would force an update disabling out of date addons and still not include a popup blocker that actually works as a base feature of the browser. The very first popup I saw on a video site after updating Firefox and losing my old blocker was obvious malware disguised as a Firefox update with a page that could not be closed due to dialog popups and it is easy to see how people could be caught out by something like that. This add on makes the internet safe and usable once again...
EDIT: I've just noticed that with 'Block new windows' checked I can't even open a new instance of Firefox from a desktop icon without temporarily disabling the blocker. With it turned off nothing is blocked even when set to 'smart'. I don't know what smart is supposed to do - as mostly it will allow me to open new tabs with middle mouse or right click menu but every now and then it will prevent me doing so forcing me to turn it off. Really needs some improving. - Rated 5 out of 5by delicacy, 7 years agoHi, i'm on ff44, because it's the only one supporting all past addons that are still needed, i cannot update or i lose 10 or more addons functionalities. it would be nice if you could add compatibility for ff44.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13368032, 7 years agoI was missing a white-/blacklist feature but I found it in the beta. Now it's perfect, except that it blocks the private-browsing-window...
- Rated 5 out of 5by Freddy T-Power, 7 years agoBefore I installed ( Popupblocker ) I had 2 Ad Blockers one which is Extremely Popular.
.
And MOST of the Time 2 Unwanted New Open Windows would get Through including that FAKE Annoying
( Microsoft has Found a Virus Please Call us )
.
But After Installing ( Popupblocker ) and w/o making ANY adjustments to it:
.
I INTENTIONALLY clicked on 45 Sites / Links I ALWAYS Had a POP UP / Unwanted New Window Problem with.
.
I even Persisted Clicking, and not a Single Pop Up or Unwanted Window Came Through NOT ONE!!
.
I can see The Instant FLASH of some of the Pop Ups / Unwanted Windows TRYING to Come Through but not a Single ONE eve did!!
.
I Noticed sometimes I had to Persist Clicking on a Button to get a Page I wanted but it ALWAYS went through ( mostly after 4-5 Clicks ) but that's a Perfect Price to Pay to avoid the bad Ones!!
.
So Far it FEELS to Good To Be TRUE, but so far it's TRUE!
It Works ( At Least for Me it dose! )
.
I STRONGLY Recommend Everyone to Test this one!!
.
I will be Posting This Review and Recommendation On My Facebook Help Page Were I help KODI / Movies and PC Users .

Only one little problem: not all popups are blocked when I set "Allow all new tabs" and I put a website in the blacklist. Some popups of blacklisted website open - Rated 3 out of 5by Nick Blank, 7 years agoIt is nice but I unintalled it because crashes when I make Firefox work with 4 processes. Please solve this

posted 7 years agoIn Firefox Beta it does run with multiprocess active on my machine.
Only in Firefox Nightly it does not run with multiprocess. But i also coudn't get other "Compatible with Firefox 57+" add-ons run in Nightly with multiprocess. So i assume, it is a bug in Nightly. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 11191300, 7 years agoIt not as good as the one I had before I reinstalled my OS and made a backup of wrong FF folder – it's damn slow and lets all popups open, but closes them a second later, so it does its job as intended. For me good enough, if dev will manage to actually block popups then it will be delightful.
I'm not sure though if „block all tabs” settings should prohibit user from opening anything, even if it's clearly at his will (like opening bookmark or new tab at all). I guess all really means all here, heh. - Rated 3 out of 5by Juanka Hula, 7 years agoCould you add the option to block the popups instead of opening and closing them? Or could you make the closing be instant? The windows specially take a lot of time and the tabs make the screen blink. Which is annoying for sites that try to open a new tab almost every time you click.
Could you add the option to allow all popups except for pages on the blacklist and the blacklist to have the option to block tabs, windows or both?
EDIT: Thanks for your response. Would be nice to maybe create a github so people can leave you suggestions or bug reports there.Developer response

I'll try to implement these features in version 2.0, but it will take some time. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12858060, 8 years agoEs blockiert nicht nur, dass Webseiten neue Fenster öffnen. Sondern man soll sogar bestätigen, wenn man selber ein neues Fenster aufmacht, dass das neue Fenster wirklich gewollt ist. :D

posted 8 years agoThank you for your feedback. Could you please provide some more information for example operating system, installed add-ons and an example website where the blocker fails. Maybe you could also try with a clean profile.
You can contact me at joofthan1@gmail.com
This would be really helpful.
Edit:
Thanks for your e-mail with detailed information. I developped version 1.1.2 which now is also able to block the tab popups you mentioned.
