posted 3 years agoYou surely know what you are doing if using an officially unsupported operating system. Scrapyard helper app uses Python 3.10 which supports only Windows 8 or above. It is still possible (at least for v0.5) to install the helper app manually using a Python version supported by Windows 7.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13643018, 4 months agoI am very fond of using Scrapyard but in the last days the toolbar is not showing and Ctrl Alt T does not work, how to fix this inconvenient? Gerry.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 17151922, 2 years agoIt honestly deserves to have 5 perfect stars, there are 0 reasons otherwise. It works perfectly and allows me to save offline copies of sites that may not be available later, it's just great!
On KDE Neon, with the default Firefox for some reason even if I install the backend, Scrapyard doesn't recognize it, but I "solved" it by choosing "Browser Internal Storage" in Settings > Content > Content Location, although this in theory limits the addon usability.
It's important to say that this is fault of the strange version of Firefox that KDE Neon ships with, not Scrapyard's. - Rated 5 out of 5by FoRy, 2 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Atherworld, 2 years agoWorked great til the latest update required downloading an additional file to install on my computer. Thanks, but not looking to remember to reinstall on new systems to use it. Shame, too. it was a great app.

Finally, I found a real replacement for Scrapbook which works in Quantum Firefox. Thank you very much for this great extension. I wonder how possible that such small number of people are using this?! I’m quite sure others don’t know about it.
Using this extension is very simple and hassle free. You don’t need to setup backend server, which is very hard, to enjoy sidebar features. I’ve been using it for just couple of days. I have a few suggestions.
1- it is impossible to distinguished bookmarked and archived items in sidebar. They both look the same. I think if you put some visual distinctions, ex. Different font, color, etc, would be great.
2- When you click an item in sidebar, it opens in a new tab. Sometimes it will lead to cumulative tabs. It would be great if user could select where the new page opens. For example new pages open in same tab and you could select "open in new tab" by right click.
3-Define shortcut keys for archive or bookmark pages.
Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for your super quick answer. I couldn't found how can I add a new comment. So I write it here.
Item #1: with small font of sidebar, distinguished between normal and italic fonts is very hard. Especially in some languages which don't use European alphabets (I would send you a screenshot if I knew how). Maybe different colors woks better.
Item #2: I'm sorry. I was blind!!
Another question: what "Maximum depth of saved nested frames" will do? I archived one page changing this item from 0 to 6. I saw no difference.
Thanks again.Developer response
posted 3 years ago1. As it is mentioned in help, archives are distinguished by the italic font.
2. There is an option in settings for this called "Left click opens bookmarks in the active tab". Middle click always opens pages in a new tab.
3. There is a little sense in this, unless to bookmark/archive to the default shelf, because the destination folder should be specified anyway. Consider using iShell commands (also described in help) which speed up things greatly. - Rated 5 out of 5by krasnyi_toster, 3 years ago

posted 3 years agoThe add-on has impressive functionality. If you remove any permission, it will cease to work. Why there are so many permissions exist in WebExtension model? All questions to its inventors. - Rated 5 out of 5by Andreas, 3 years ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by SBTL, 4 years agoI've been using this for a while but recently it's being obnoxious and refusing to save favourites, it made a load of double folders when looking at favourites in the Scrapyard menu, and the icon disappeared a few times.
Just removed it and reinstalled and it's bothering to save them now...
Nope it's broken again.... This is annoying....
I just tried to save a favourite - didn't work - opened the side bar for Scrapyard - tried again and it did save. Deleted favourite - closed side bar - tried to save same one and it worked. Next time I try to save one and it refuses. There is no rhyme or reason to it - it just refuses to work sometimes; most of the time at the moment...
Only way to get it to work is keep the side bar for Scrapyard open >.< WHY?.. What is it's problem?...
Is there a way to delete all of it's data, folders, registry files; as if it had never been installed?.. Then reinstalling it may fix it?...
-------------------
It's been behaving the past couple of days...
--------------------
The icon has been disappearing many times recently which is irritating because it means having to go to add-ons and switch it off and on to get it back, every time. It hasn't refused to save a favourite for a while though which is good.

2021.09.20. Update.
It's been working OK for a while. Now its doing it's other favourite bug where in the drop down list, it's all moved to one side, so I can't see the beginnings of the folder names, and can't find where to put favourites >.<Developer response
posted 4 years agoFirefox integration is just one aspect of Scrapyard. Because a lot of new features were added lately, it was a little bit buggy. I think, generally it's a great bookmarking tool, and all this will settle when it stabilizes.
It turned out that those were bugs that manifest themselves under certain levels of system load and are very hard to debug. I have reworked the Firefox integration to take them into account (v0.12.6), you may try it again.
Since I rarely read reviews, please report any bugs to https://github.com/GChristensen/scrapyard/issues - Rated 5 out of 5by Aleks B., 4 years agoGreat add-on! Today it is the only alternative ScrapBook. A big plus is that, the author of the add-on listens to the wishes of users and adds new features. Thank You!
After the latest updates, Scrapyard already has all the there all the necessary functions for archiving web pages and creating bookmarks. Scrapyard this is a perfect replacement ScrapBook for users Firefox Quantum. - Rated 5 out of 5by Chuck-7, 4 years agoRevised Edit! {Thank You, Developer, For Your Kind & Timely Response! I am rather New to Firefox, so am still unaware of some of the Fundamentals.}
I have found no Major issues in my testing so far, Although it would be nice for there to be a bit of Flexibility in Editing the Notations made on the saved Snippets (e.g.: Bold, Italics, Font-Name, Etc.; and perhaps the creation of a little box that would set off the User’s Comments from the Snippet – This Annotation-Box exists is in another Snippet-Saving Extension that I use & is quite nice.)Developer response
posted 4 years agoPlease use https://github.com/GChristensen/scrapyard/issues, but not ratings to solve problems. Low ratings will help a little.
1. You should have been choosen the shelf/folder where you saved them in the popup window.
2. They should be in these folders.
3. The addon is accessible through the sidebar. You can open it with the dedicated Firefox button or by pressing Alt+Y.
4. If yo do not press Alt+Y, you need to choose Scrapyard in the sidebar through the sidebar drop-down menu at its heading.
Does this solve your problem? - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14376884, 4 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by unknown.user, 4 years agoSo far Scrapyard has been great to use. It does exactly what the developer says it does and then some. For someone who isn't very fastidious about organizing bookmarks this is a godsend. Thank you for making Scrapyard.
If one day Scrapyard could offline save an entire website for offline reading/notation, etc. that would be really something amazing. - Rated 5 out of 5by dedmazai1870, 4 years agoWhy on the left screenshot (fragment of the page) there is normal text (Russian), and on the right one after editing, finishing and saving is unreadable?

posted 4 years agoHi, this is failure of a tree-view, all the items should be actually there. This bug was fixed long ago, please turn on add-on updates. - Rated 4 out of 5by Jason, 5 years agoGreat extension.
My question - where is the the Scrapyard data file stored? What is the name of the file or the folder? - Rated 5 out of 5by Formation, 5 years agoYeah. Its really functioning original Scrapbook alternative. No 49 FF anymore..
Pros:
* you no need to install exe files into your system to run servers (OMG)
* there is annotating as in good old scrapbook
* ...
Cons:
* I dont see multiple tabs save
* speed is 1.5-2 slower than original Scrapbook (but other alternatives is more slower!)
* if I offline and trying to save webpage - I get clean html or similar - because css files do not save (original Sc can do that)
Good extension. I hope developer will read my review - Rated 1 out of 5by C4BS, 5 years agoDoes not allow you to create new keywords. Which is the best part about Firefox bookmarks
