Simplify Copilot – Autofill job applications by Simplify

by poorvi, 2 years agoEDIT: If you guys are looking for backend engineers I want to work for you : ).
Absolute game changer.
The application tracking and the suggested jobs to apply to are AMAZING. I have very specific jobs I want to apply to (i.e. using a certain programming language) and this has been incredibly helpful.
While it doesn't successfully fill out certain websites, it still fills out many of the most common forms.
Couple of suggestions:
1. Please give the option to have more than 750 chars for the experience section. I would suggest adding a form to the experience section that forces the user to write in bullet points. I have some experience on my resume that has several bullet points and definitely takes up more than 750 chars.
2. Whenever certain questions come up in a job application that Simplify doesn't parse (e.g. "Are you transgender?" or "Do you have security clearance", I would like to be able to add those custom questions to the parser, or be able to submit a request to have those questions added.
3. Simplify doesn't seem to perform well on those radio button questions (i.e. questions where you have to click a radio button to answer the question, commonly for the ethnicity/veteran/disability questions)
4. I put South Asian in the Simplify application but sometimes it will check the East Asian box in the ethnicity form.
5. Basically, I would like the option to be able to report parser problems to Simplify when they occur.
These are all mostly tiny issues BUT DO NOT LET THESE TINY THINGS DETER YOU FROM USING THIS AMAZING EXTENSION. I HAVE ONLY USED THIS EXTENSION FOR 20 MINUTES AND ITS BEEN INCREDIBLE. KEEP WORKING HARD GUYS THIS IS GREAT.

Can you email us at yourfriends@simplify.jobs? - Rated 5 out of 5by cfdude, 2 months agoSimplify has been the best aide in applying to jobs with consistency and tracking. It just works and offers great features like keyword analysis. This is hands-down the best tool and best website for finding and applying to jobs.

It sucks up all resources and freezes the entire browser when a page is loading. You know how normally when a page is loading, you can still click on other tabs and the browser will respond? Not with Simplify! I've seen faster browsing on a Core 2 Duo.
I know this extension used to work well. I think something changed in a recent update. Hopefully this is fixed soon, but I know firefox users are usually not a priority demographic.Developer response

Removing the extension completely solved my problem, so I hope you guys eventually find a solution.

It doesn't happen at first, and takes several hours before it appears, but each page reload will begin taking longer and longer before it's absolutely unbearable. Took some time to narrow down which extension was doing it, but of course - it's Simplify.
This is not the first time I've had issues with this extension, and I'm beginning to get a little annoyed! I forgot what happened originally since I'm re-posting a new review, but I do remember that they fixed it soon after my last review.
Please fix this soon, as I won't be running Copilot anymore until it is.
Original Review:
Good addon. Revising the review now that I'm finally using it more. The idea is really quite sound - and the execution is close to what I want. But it still has a lot of edge cases, and I think that's going to take the most time to figure out.
For example, it can identify that certain major job boards have an embedded field somewhere, but sometimes it fails or the embedded area is really small. I mostly want the extension to have that floating scrolling box to follow me around - but not just in that one embedded space. It would be nice to be able to quickly copy/paste out of that area, regardless of the size/position of that embedded space.
Also, if the job board isn't detected or supported - the manual copy paste feature doesn't appear at all. 30% of websites are like this. Simplify is a really cool idea - it just needs to be more generally applicable rather than trying to one-click 70% of job boards.Developer response

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18574742, 3 months agoOne of the most helpful tools for filling out job applications. Cut the time spent entering my information in half, and their job recommendations have landed me offers!
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17557296, 3 months agoFills out 90% of the application already on most sites which is quite convenient.

- Rated 1 out of 5by User, 5 months agoFirefox 127.0.0/addon 2.0.16: While trying to fill the profile on *.myworkdayjobs.com sites, starts eating gigabytes of RAM and 100% cpu, very fast completely freezes PC, leading to hard reset. Idea is nice, implementation is subpar.

posted 5 months agoHi! We'd love to take a closer look and help out. Sometimes, this isn't related to our add:on at all. Can you send us an email at support@simplify.jobs? We would love to solve this for you! - Rated 1 out of 5by Khalil, 5 months agoLooked promising but couldn't even get past the work experience screen. It also hijacked every single web page I had open with privacy terms and conditions. I never uninstalled an extension so fast.

Also regarding the privacy terms and conditions, this is an unfortunately a requirement only on Mozilla. If you use the Chrome version of this extension, you won’t see this popup. - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 18447739, 6 months agoAs of version 2.0.42 this extension maxes out my CPU usage every time I load a new webpage, regardless of if it can fill out anything on the webpage. I would hope that this issue could be resolved by choosing to activate it when needed, rather than it's current always on state. I will continue using this app because it's still useful for it's purpose, but needing to enable and disable it every time I want to use it is not a good user experience.
