Spoiler Slayer by Brett Profitt

Rated 4 out of 5
by Pahchi, 2 years agoHuge update to my previous review.
Turns out that "default sites" were removed when I downloaded the addon from this wepage, so it didn't block anything on google or youtube. I reset to default and it appeared.

- Rated 1 out of 5by ReaLadge, 3 years agoWould like to see this working since the Spoiler Protection 2.0 (which is great) lags the browser, but I cant seem to get this working at all. Just says 0 spoilers blocked on youtube, google, and reddit. I've tried imported through github and importing them with the json files alone yet it still blocks nothing.
Tried:
- Disabling all extensions but Spoiler Slayer
- Making sure the permissions are set
- Made sure that the layout.frame_rate is set to my monitor refresh rate
I could be doing something wrong but it doesnt seem obvious on why it isnt working.
I'll up the rating until I either get help or it gets fixed.Developer response
posted 2 years agoApologies for the slow response. For some reason I was only just notified about this review.
I checked and YouTube is still working for me. If you email me or open an issue on GitHub with the URL that isn't working and your exported settings JSON file (menu -> Advanced options in the lower right -> Export All in the lower left) I'll have a look. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17154921, 3 years ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Sid, 3 years agoWorks somewhat well, but sometimes goes crazy and blocks whatever it feels like. Was a pain to set up because it seemed like I was doing everything right when I followed the tutorial but it was broken. Then I fiddled around a bit more and suddenly it worked. I have no idea what caused it to fix. For an example of it blocking whatever it feels like, I use it to block spoilers of the new Spiderman movie, with a list of related keywords. Right now it just blocked a youtube video titled "I taught my dog to pet my cat"
Other times it will completely ignore blatant spoilers with multiple keywords in the title of the video.
What's going on?
EDIT Dec 28 2021:
I have updated this review to four stars because the level of support that I received was really nice. I didn't expect to get a response at all but within a day I got an email. While the issue has not gotten resolved, because I believe it will get patched in some time, I am updating this review to reflect the support on any issues, and the fact that the extension generally works normally for the vast majority of the time. If this gets updated and works 100% of the time, I am easily going to update this to 5 stars.Developer response
posted 3 years agoSorry for the problems you've experienced! I'm happy to look into this if you can send a full screenshot of your settings to the address listed in the add-on. - Rated 5 out of 5by klaymore, 4 years agoWorks well, setting up all the key words takes a little time but is really customizable and you only need to set it up once for each thing you're blocking
