I don't know whether it's because there are multiple videos here or some other reason. I tried installing Brave and its downloader with the same problem, so maybe it's my fault or the site's fault. I haven't tried other substacks with embedded videos yet. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 17053092, a year agoWorks perfectly. I would like to note that the 1-star review from ~14 days ago seems to be mistaken when it says this doesn't work. The videos open in a new tab for me, as described in that review, but the new-tab instance of the video is the raw .mp4 file, so I can simply hit Ctrl+S to save the video to disk. (It's possible that the 1-star reviewer ACTUALLY IS seeing non-working behavior, but his or her description matched my working behavior so closely I felt this was worth bringing up.) Only reason I don't give it 5/5 is I wish it was open source. But works great, so I'll take what I can get for now.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16643943, a year agoIt simply does not work. It opens the video in a new tab, full screen but there's no way to save it from there any more than there was on the substack page. All you get to save is a jstor file which, of course, is not the vid, doesn't run any vid.
It is a pain in the butt that just causes you frustration and loss of time.
