- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12776176, 4 years agoas reported by other users, it's NOT working (FF 75 or 76). With or without logging in to my TB account, clicking on the icon makes the map pop up for a half second, but it closes before you can turn the VPN on or select a country. Click also takes you to the TB website Completely useless at this point, but I hope it is fixed soon so I can upgrade my rating.

No point in buying this app

posted 5 years agoSorry to hear you aren't happy with your bear. If you are having issues with our service, please let support know at https://help.tunnelbear.com/hc/en-us - they can help look into things. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14480399, 5 years agoSo after trying this out and it SUCKING, with the bulk of the features locked behind an imaginary paywall that they claim pays for the app but then other apps so the same for free(?). I removed it and moved on and thought nothing of it. Today I get around 100 spam emails per day MINIMUM including one saying I'd sent around $150 to TunnelBear. Cheers for selling my details after I uninstalled you. CUNTS. Reported!!!

posted 5 years agoWe don't lock any features behind a paywall. The only difference between a Free account and Paid account is that Free users have a limit on how much tunnelling they can do a month, and Paid users do not. As for the charge you received, we do NOT charge that much for any of our subscriptions, we also do not collect or sell user data. It sounds like the email you have received may be some type of phishing attempt. I suggest you do not select anything in that email, and instead reach out to support at https://help.tunnelbear.com/hc/en-us - they can help confirm if there were any payments made, and answer any questions. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15311410, 5 years agoIts asking me to signup repeatedly even though I have an existing free account. Even after signip with an existing account it asking me to create a new account and not allowing me to use it. This happens only in the private mode, so I am guessing they aren't able to get the browsing data to sell that's the reason why they are discouraging its use on private windows. Worthless!! Keep away and don't use it.
The support instead of acknowledging the issue asks to contact their support, they are aware of this issue. I will report this addon for abuse and privacy concern.Developer response
posted 5 years agoRawr! So sorry you ran into issues with your Bear. We do ask you to reach out to us at tunnelbear.com/support so that we can troubleshoot and investigate the issue. You CAN use the extension in incognito mode!
To clarify, when using a VPN it would not matter if you used incognito mode or not, all DNS requests would still need to go through our encrypted servers. That said, as per our strict Privacy and No-logging policy, TunnelBear would NEVER log these request. Please reach out to us for further information on this, and for troubleshooting so we can fix any issues! - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15227688, 5 years ago

posted 6 years agoRawr! We do have free accounts available for users, however the free accounts are limited to 500 MB a month. We offer unlimited tunnelling for what we consider to be an affordable price. We always advise users to be wary of using completely free VPN services, as they will often collect your information and sell it in order to cover maintenance costs (something TunnelBear will NEVER do). As our focus is privacy and security first and foremost, we have found that the best way to keep our service running for our users is to implement a subscription model for unlimited tunnelling/access.
If you have further questions surrounding this, please don't hesitate to let us know at https://help.tunnelbear.com/hc/en-us - Rated 1 out of 5by cicada, 6 years agoI don't understand what this extension does.
After enabled it, shows that now i'm browsing from United States but my external IP was the
same as before i install/enable the extension.
So, what's the point of using it?
Also, because i clean the cookies, every time i click its button, it automatically opens its home
page for log in. This is very irritating. It should have an internal functionality for log in which
also should be compatible with Saved Logins manager of Firefox.
In private browsing mode also, it does not work at all. Even after logged in in its home page,
it remains disabled, opening again and again its home page every time i click the button..
[Updated]
This time i test it in clean profiles of firefox 55.0.3 and 62.0, both 64-bit and default settings.
The first time i click the button after installation, it opens its home page in a new tab (expected).
In here, i create a new account, verify the email address and log in. After that, when i click the
button, its pop-up remains open and i can enable it (the button becomes bright) and if i want, i
can also select a country (expected).
However, my external ip remains the same, as before installation/activation of the extension.
I check it by going here: https://bearsmyip.com/ and here: https://iplookup.flagfox.net/.
I tried to change several times the country, disable/reanable the extension but nothing was
changed.
Now, as of private windows, i can confirm again that it does not work at all. The first time i click
the button it opens its home page in a new tab where i log in. After that, every time i click the
button it does the same thing, bringing me again in its home page, where i am already logged in.Developer response
posted 6 years agoHi Cicada, sorry for the issues!
1. TunnelBear does require a cookie to be used on the device in order to recall login status/information. If you clear your cookies, you will be required to sign back in to the application. We are aware of concerns surrounding this, but there are no immediate plans to change this implementation at this time. This is intended behaviour for the app currently.
2. The other two issues definitely don't sound right at all. The extension should be working with private browsing mode, and it definitely should not be displaying your personal/original IP, you should only see the TunnelBear IP address while connected. Note however, the extension only affects the browser it is installed on, not all applications on the device. If you are seeing the IP in another browser/app, then that would be expected.
In any case, for those problems, please contact support at https://help.tunnelbear.com/hc/en-us so that our support bears can try to solve those issues for you! We'll be happy to help troubleshoot there :) - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 5567891, 6 years agoI have tried to use it Twice; it doesn't function. Hibernating?
I have run several different AV scans; the computer is clean.
No support or help buttons.
Rating: No stars.Developer response

Great. What am I meant to do with that? Useless.

posted 6 years agoRawr, that's no good! Are you clearing your cache/cookies automatically by any chance? The extension relies on a browser cookie to keep you logged in, so if this is the case, you won't remain signed in. If not, please get in touch with support at https://help.tunnelbear.com/hc/en-us, they can help investigate this issue further for you! Developer response
