by Milan, a year agoWorks mostly great. Question: can something be done about reddit images? Simply opening image URL in new tab doesn't work, it opens reddit page with image which means image cannot be easily zoomed in.
Edit: update is working as described in the reply. Thank you

posted a year agoPlaying around with it, reddit seems to utilize the Accept header, which with the add-on did not tamper. By default it was accepting "text/html" before any other mime types. Altering the Accept header to instead specify media types first seems to work with reddit at this point. I've updated the add-on (version 3.3) with an option, enabled by default, to override the Accept header for this compatiblity.

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 18575513, 3 months agoEvery time I click to drag the image around, the zoom resets. It's impossible to use. If you fixed that, it'd be the best image zoom addon available.

posted 3 months agoThis behavor - clicking on a zoomed in/out image resetting zoom to 100% - is default Firefox behavior for images (similar to how the image is drawn centered on the page and on a dark gray background). Using the built-in "open image in new tab" has the same behavior.
The addon does not have control the browser's rendering/behavior of the image, all it does it just open the image. It's unlikely that add-ons could alter the zoom behavior of the browser, at least not without some very hacky workarounds liable to break between firefox updates.
At this point, I suspect your best bet is to file a ticket on bugzilla, as this sounds like its a UX issue for touch-based pinch-zoom and panning of an image accidentally causing a click event to reset the zoom level. Sorry. - Rated 5 out of 5by TyDraniu, 3 months ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15094302, 2 years agoVery helpful. I have no clue why the original menu item was removed, but this add-on restores it without causing any issues. Thank you!
- Rated 5 out of 5by nyuu, 2 years agoThe CSS provided in the description uses now-deprecated selectors so your users' view image button is going to be moved back to the middle of the items instead of the top. If people are reporting vague "errors"; this is why.
Below is a corrected userChrome setup for the affected portions:
menuitem[id*="view-image-context-menu-item"] {order: -1 !important;}
menuitem[id*="view-video-context-menu-item"] {order: -1 !important;}
menuitem[id*="view-audio-context-menu-item"] {order: -1 !important;}
#contentAreaContextMenu {display: flex; flex-direction: column-reverse;Developer response
posted 2 years agoThanks for the heads up; looks like I was behind the times on my Firefox updates. I've updated to 113 and saw it broke my menu as well.
I've updated the the userChrome in description to start using order instead of the deprecated moz box ordering. Though in my testing i did not see any effects of flex-direction: column-reverse so i have left it out. - Rated 5 out of 5by Aadolf Kärki, 2 years ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by k-rock, 3 years agoIs there any way we can make "view image" not be fixed at the very top? It gets in the way of "Open Link in New Tab". For those kind of pages I rather have it in the third section of the Menu where "Open Image in New Tab" would be.

posted 3 years agoYes it can be done through userChrome.css
See this thread: https://github.com/agoupinets/view-image-context-menu-item/issues/14
Firefox does not give any nice way for developers to interact with the menu when writing the add-on, so to rearrage it you effectively need to order it by hand. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13630698, 3 years agoThanks for doing this, I can't believe they changed something that was working perfectly fine... the only thing I've trouble with is that I can't figure out how to change it's position from the top to lower ones since I tend to right-click the thumbnail and open vids in another tab.
EDIT: That thread was what I was looking for, thanks again :)Developer response
posted 3 years agoIf you mean the context menu ordering, by default addon menu items are listed at the bottom. By messing with UserChrome.css you can make them appear in a custom order.
In the addon description i have some basic CSS to always list it first in the context menu, but if you want to have better control over the ordering, check this thread: https://github.com/agoupinets/view-image-context-menu-item/issues/14
And also of note that in the add-on preferences there are options to change the left/middle/shift-click behavior of the context menu item if desired. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13689361, 3 years ago
- Rated 3 out of 5by BlohoJo, 3 years agoDoes not work with imgur... expected behavior is selecting the "View Image" from the context menu opens the image itself, but actual behavior is it opens the page for the image on the imgur website. So for example, it opens "//imgur.com/xxxxxxx" instead of "//i.imgur.com/xxxxxxx.jpg".

posted 3 years agoi am unable to replicate this in my own testing; i appear to be able to correctly open both image and video media using this addon when viewing imgur posts (correctly loads i.imgur.com/... url). if you can replicate this, can you please give a list of detailed steps (preferably open an issue on github as reviews don't support conversations well)? - Rated 5 out of 5by asg aesgasgea sg, 3 years agokinda sad that one needs an addon for some basic function. shame on you firefox :P
- Rated 3 out of 5by Atant, 3 years agoОчень нужная вещь, но пока недоработанная. Нет перелистывания изображений, открывает изо в том же окне, потому глючит возврат на страницу.

posted 3 years agocan you please elaborate on the issue? im not sure i understand what doesn't work correctly. (starting an issue on github would be ideal) - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16900801, 3 years agoReplaces the old functionality well enough. I did change the userChrome entries to hide the icon though to "visibility: hidden" instead of "display: none" as that moved the text all the way to the left edge of the context menu. In case anyone has a similar problem.
Developer response
posted 3 years agothats a good point - i've been writing the CSS against the Proton interface, but looks like its not compatible with the old UI; in the old UI it needs to be "visibility: hidden" or offsets the text too far left, and in the new UI it needs to be "display: none" otherwise the text remains offset too far right.
i should make a note of that on the description
