- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13844082, 6 years agoSimple and works like a charm.
Essential for anybody who is really into YouTube. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13819733, 7 years agoNot sure it works permanently. Old videos I've watched are not being marked.
I'm looking for an extension that permanently stores YouTube history, and this seems to be a decent but imperfect solution.Developer response
posted 7 years agoThe extension does what you are asking for. However, your history of watched videos cannot come out of nowhere. Thus, if you did not synchronize the extension with your browser history (your browser history could be incomplete) or YouTube (you may not be logged in) then you will not see old videos marked as watched.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13534395, 7 years agoworked very well until i updated to ff 57. totally loved it when it worked.
since updating to 57 my history and database are empty. and sadly no more "watched" videos.
when click on "synchronize" in the history-options a unclickable message saying "synchronizing with history" appears but nothing else happens until i reload or close the tab.
the search wheel at the buttom right is constantly turning but not finding anything.
already tried reinstalling the addon, overinstalling the browser and restarting the mac (os 10.12.6). it's just not working anymore.
on my older mac with el capitan this great addon strangely still works under ff 57.
any ideas?Developer response
posted 7 years agothank you for your thorough investigation! you might try the solution that has been posted in issue tracker on github here: https://github.com/sniklaus/youtube-watchmarker/issues/6
thanks again - simon - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13521073, 7 years agoIt works great for what I need it to except for 1 minor problem. My subscriptions page just shows a blank white screen when this is enabled. For me to be able to view the videos in my subscriptions the way I want to, I need to disable this addon, click view subscriptions so the videos show up, then click to re-enable the addon so I can easily see which video I've watched.

posted 7 years agothank you for your review, you are the first person to raise this issue. would you mind moving the discussion over to the issue tracker on github? https://github.com/sniklaus/youtube-watchmarker/issues
thanks again - simon - Rated 5 out of 5by theFlash2K5, 7 years agoIt does exactly what I want, which is mark videos that I've already seen as watched. Since I follow a fair amount of channels, it's useful to keep track since I can't always remember.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13283038, 7 years agoExactly what I was looking for. All videos are marked.
- Rated 4 out of 5by George Hazard, 7 years agoWorks well but I wish it had the ability to hide watched videos so that they don't clutter up the subscriptions feed.

- Rated 5 out of 5by PERCE-NEIGE, 7 years agoSimple and working!
If one day, you could add a list of all watched videos, would be even more great. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12856069, 8 years ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Yaku, 8 years agoUpdate:
(04.01.2020) Add-on still works but I too have recently run into bug? creating double thumbnails. Few people complained about add-on being broken. Actulaly the problem is with youtube's new layout not add-on.
Simple solution for it is adding "f6=8" value (without quotes) to a PREF cookie, r creating PREF cookie with this value if you don't have one already.
That value will change youtube layout to old layout.
Original review:
Add-on itself is very useful as it makes my life much easier.
However, I tend to open several videos at once and then watch them. I have noticed that add-on marks videos as watched the moment I open them in new tab, without actually hitting the play button.
It would make much more sense, for me anyway, if the add-on marked videos as watched after I watched them, not before.Developer response
posted 7 years agohi yaku,
thank you for your feedback, i understand your concerns. however, there might be some users who stop watching certain movies a minute or two before they are over because they might contain advertisements. in this case, the video would not be marked as watched, contrary to what they expect. handling this issue is thus quite a challenge.
thank you - simon - Rated 5 out of 5by jaxx0rr, 8 years agoit does what its supposed to .

posted 8 years agohi ayam,
thank you for bringing this up. please make sure that you have the newest version of the addon. the most recent updated does not need a login anymore and is thus even more convenient to use.
thank you - simon
edit: i just saw that you are required to use version 1.8.1 - unfortunately however, google does not provide access to the watch history via their api anymore - i am therefore sorry to say that i have no possibility to bring this feature back into the previous version: https://code.google.com/p/gdata-issues/issues/detail?id=4642#c83
