posted 10 months agoIt's working for a couple of weeks now. Sorry for the inconvenience!- Rated 1 out of 5by John Doe, a year agoLooks like this add-on got snatched up by some ad agency. Just peeked into the new version's source code, and surprise! They've thrown in a bunch of analytics, data collection, forced logins, and even slapped on some "premium features". Oh, and did I mention it doesn't even work? Save yourself the trouble and skip this one.

Login is to be able to save your summaries, stop malicious attacks and enable premium features like GPT-4 if needed.
Analytics is for tracking app usage across all users to be able to improve the plugin and provide better experience for users. - Rated 1 out of 5by AlphaNeon, a year agoYou should update your extension. Its been over 6 months.
Edit:
You made it paid only. What a sh*t extension. Do not use this. Use something else. This used to be free with an OpenAI key, they are now making BANK on the same thing. Do not use. - Rated 5 out of 5by sibna, a year ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Jade, a year agoGreat addon, but when I try to use the custom prompt feature I get:

Error 400: redirect_uri_mismatch - Rated 1 out of 5by Gregory108, a year agoAdd-on does not do what is expected. Returns zero-value timecodes or technical notation like "title", "timecode" and, at best, in one of the settings regime, returns a transcript.
PS: maybe a malfunction if YT changed something - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12795816, a year agoDoesn't seem to work. Either it has empty lines with time stamps or it doesn't do anything. Tried on many videos with clear English, where other plugins (on other browsers) were able to get the summary. This one was a hope it will work on Firefox but it doesn't.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Dead_Sakura, a year agoThis is the best extension for working with summarization on YouTube!
It even saves the last summarization for each video, DEV, I LOVE YOU WHOEVER YOU ARE. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17524800, a year agoThis extension works wonders. Right off the bat, I don't even have to refresh my window, it just runs immediately. It just works. I tested all settings, and it did it. I know this is ChatGPT, but you have to thank the developer for making it work so well. I get drop down menus, time stamps, and, well, just, it's nice. Gave me a smile. Thank you so so much for making this, you are ducking awesome. One thing I wish though is if I could ask follow up questions to ChatGPT there, but I could just do that in a new tab. Still, I am flabbergasted that this extension only has 3k Users, as so many more people would LOVE this. Thank you!

Hey! Really great app, well designed as well!
I only have one problem I'd say, from my experience everything works well except "Summarize video as a set of bullet points", it usually picks most bullet points at the beginning of the video so it doesn't do a good job of actually covering the full video. I suspect that this is due to ChatGPT being really poor at counting, dividing arbitrary lengths and similar tasks.
I expect that at the moment this is done through prompt engineering, I'd like to propose a different way that I feel like would be more effective.
Algorithm (Setting: 5 bullet points) :
1. Grab the whole transcript (example video length 10 minutes)
2. Divide transcript into (10 minutes / 5 bullet points) 5 chunks each 2 minutes long.
3. Provide the chunk to ChatGPT to summarize, in theory we could also add previous chunks for context but specify that we only want to summarize a chunk that is in quotation marks ("").
I think this would provide a more consistent summary of the whole video. Also, it would be great to be able to do one custom prompt without logging in, because google login doesn't work for me atm. Anyways, I really appreciate your work, good job! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14303198, a year agoThis is a fantastic Add on. The only one problem is, it can not make a summary following the Chapters in the description of the video. It would be perfect like that.

I am struggling to get this to work just lately. Anyone having same issues? I see the summary box, but when i click it, it just remains blank?
UPDATE: JULY 2023
As adivised by the author. if you use it with ChatGPT3.5 model it is great. But currently (as of July 9 2023) still does not work with ChatGPT V4. And this is not the authiors fault. Its the way openAI are managing API requests. But it does mean that you are stuck with 3.5 summaries currently. Rating gone up to a 3*** for me.
JUNE 2023
This extension was working perfectly, and was my prefered summarizer. 4 stars. But in past couple of weeks I now get this fail message below.
Unable to summarize this video.
Error is: {"detail":"Our systems have detected unusual activity from your system. Please try again later."}
So my 4 star review has changed to a 1 star based on it no longer works for me. If anyone knows why its doing this current error, let me know.Developer response
posted a year agoThis is a change from openAI side that tries to block extension. It mostly affects GPT-4 model.
You can see the details for the issue here

We are working on resolving this as fast as possible. In the meantime, can you change the model to be GPT-3.5-Turbo and that should work ? - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13781565, a year ago
