- Rated 5 out of 5by redkurn, a month agofinally, those youtube adds ad block plus wasn't catching are finally gone. i can live with the short delay before the video plays. THANK YOU!
second video played they are back. 😒 - Rated 4 out of 5by Lumidaub, 6 months agoIt worked perfectly, I changed nothing, and then it didn't work anymore :( Ads run just as normal, even though they should be muted.
That's a real bummer, I thought the add-on was almost perfect - the only thing I was missing was an option to have ads (on whitelisted channels) run for 30-45 seconds and THEN skip (because that's apparently how long the ad needs to run for payout).Developer response
posted 6 months agoThanks for the feedback! I will try to resolve the issues ASAP. I can look into allowing users to provide their max cut off time for ads to run on whitelisted channels. - Rated 5 out of 5by Jonathan, a year agoI had to refresh the video tab I already had opened when I installed this add-on, but after that it works well! I appreciate that it lets you choose the options you wish to enable/disable individually.
Now that YouTube is cracking down on ad blockers, I decided to turn over a new leaf, and fully "whitelist" YouTube, and I was hoping to find an extension that provided this kind of functionality.
I was mainly looking for auto-muting ads + un-muting video, which this extension handles really well. It's a big relief, and makes the viewing experience much more pleasant. Disabling the annoying "are you still watching?" prompt is an added bonus for those longer videos too. But I'm leaving the ad skipping feature turned off, so creators of the content I enjoy can still get the monetization benefits of the ads playing out.
With the help of this extension, the ads go from being obnoxious and noisy, to being quiet and bearable. Thank you for making this functionality possible. I appreciate that you have the source code available on github for everyone to view as well.Developer response
posted 10 months agoHi Jonathan, thanks for review. In the newest update, I added the ability for users to whitelist channels to allow ads to run while having the skip ad function enabled. You can add these channels manually.
You can also authorize the app to retrieve your YouTube subscriptions via YouTube's Data API by logging into your Google account. However, my authorization server is currently unverified and you will receive a cautious warning if you decide to allow authorization to read your data. Feel free to ignore this feature until it is verified as it may be 3-5 week process.
Thanks again!
