    Starts to block questions from TOR or open proxies, just like google. No longer useable for me and i no longer trust them. Now owned by a advertisment agency.

    WARNING! An advertising company called System1 has now huge impact on data collection of each user using Startpage because System1 has become majority shareholder. Do not use this search machine anymore!

    Startpage cannot be considered protecting your data anymore, since they are sold to system1 - a company earning money with personalized advertisement.

    Habe startpage lange benutzt. Leider wurde es verkauft an ein Datensammelunternehmen! Sehr traurig. Wollen die ehemaligen Betreiber, die uns mit Datenschutz angeworben haben, mit dem Geld für den Verkauf jetzt glücklich werden oder wollen sie nur nach Kohle stinken???

    something good, apparently dont tracks, save logs, pot, pong, ping, wax, slam, xi, beam, team, Tintin, IN...DEED b4 in dead, you have to try_long life and prosperity guys and "guys". REALMENTE: è buono ed è un'ottima idea, quella di, se non altro, frammentare e celare più frammenti possibili agli ormai stabiliti Masters of Tracking observing to sell your soul keys to who wants to sell you feeding for your soul 4 moneys to buy air freshener and server to have algoritms of entire humans on the Planet_shit_ This helps but like duckduck, have not (yet) same fresh results like BigG have. BTW, you have to dont be stupid like sign in G accounts and then search...This, have some others useful functions. And for chrome i suggest duckduck vpn, try it also

    Been a long term user of Startpage. I did NOT expect this to happen! I have removed this add on and. of course, I do not use and will not ever use Startpage again. The previous review posted a source link, as I cant stress this enough for people who are still using Startpage or considering to do so, please reconsider!

    Look how active Startpage have been replying to the comments and questions, and now its been totally quiet here.
    Startpage, who promised "real privacy" have after all this years partnered with the ad-company System1 (I think anyone understand that they are anything but privacy friendly) something i did not expect to happen, not with Startpage, but i (and many others) was wrong.

    Dear Startpage, you proved yourself being a scam. Users trust is hard to gain, now when letting your true shady fake face shine, you dont deserve any trust whatsoever.

    Longtime fan of Startpage. This is truly concerning and sad. I’ve gotten emotionally so invested in Startpage,often even recommending it to people over DuckDuckGo these days and their anonymous view was also quite a great feature.

    Startpage has been around for many many years, I would never have expected this to happen, to be honest.

    And sold to a ad company by the name System1 ?
    Maybe you can consider changing the extension and the promising words? Its pretty misleading for being a "Private Search Engine" without trackers and ads, that now are sold to System1, one of the bigger ad crap companies out there.

    A shame really.

    The latest update requires "access to all tabs." I don't care WHAT new functionality you were trying to add or that you're "actively pursuing other options," you should have WAITED until you found another option BEFORE you pushed an update out.

    I do not agree to the new 'access to tabs' permission being forced just for what? 'opening a marketing page'? is this an early april fools' joke? removed and will not install again, even if I might use your search engine for a few months before someone more reasonable comes along (with ublock, how else?).

The request to view tabs is only applicable in the initial install process, in order to pass a marketing page URL from add.startpage.com to confirm a successful installation. However, to enable that feature, we had to request users allow access to the tabs. Once install is complete, we NEVER look at your tabs, so we are actively pursuing other options to grab that URL without needing access to tabs.
