by Desoya, 2 months agoABP has become the very thing they were fighting against.
Yes, I refer to the Acceptable Ads program, allow me to translate it in a bullshit-free language: ABP make companies pay for the right to bypass (allowed by default ABP extension config) the ads-blocking feature.
In other terms, ABP comes as an extra pay-wall between ads companies and end-users by imposing a new fee for passing "The Acceptable Ads Committee", where the main criteria for "acceptance" is nothing but the dime the advertisers have to pay ABP to let their ads go through. Great, the ads won't be animated, yadi yada, but that's still an ad.
As Rick Sanchez would say, it's just advertisement, with extra steps.

posted 2 months agoHi,
Thank you for your review.
In this program, websites are permited to show certain ads on the page. However, those ads have to be produced according to a series of criterias (ie. not animated, non-intrusive, cannot block content, etc). Websites have to apply join the program and are judged by a committee. This ensures that all pages follow the criteria established.
Users can chose to opt-out from seeing Acceptable Ads at any time in their ABP settings.

- Rated 1 out of 5by nothingforyou, 2 hours ago"Adblock Plus has been updated! " Are you kidding me? This is browser hijacking adware built into an ad blocker! YOU HAVE DESIGNED IT SPECIFICALLY TO OPEN WHEN YOU CLICK LINKS/NEW TABS. The whole design of the popup is adware meant to hijack your browser. I suggest reporting this as 'something else' and explaining that it's hijacking browser tabs.

Without notice it opens own page without permission scrounging for more donations. It's very annoying & disruptive. You are ruining your own great brand because of your incessant greed. If it continues I will remove it from all browsers and devices. Thanks again for the period of time when you were great when you were doing what you set out to do.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Era, 13 hours agoIt use to be great, now they focus on (ironically) advertising adblock plus Premium through "donations". Every time its updated (every 2-3 days) it'll bring up a page that begs for donations, and you can't disable it. But if you "purchase" premium, that page won't come up.
I've seen the developers responses, trying to skirt around the issue "But if its multiple tabs at once then report to us immediately!"
Absolute adwere scam. Absolutely ironic. - Rated 5 out of 5by Jungan, a day ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by Tehhutch, 7 days agoRemoved after years of use, My browsing session being interrupted by tabs informing me of updates, then nagging for donations is more annoying than the ads it's supposed to block.. I get that developers need support, but there's better ways of doing this.
"Once per browser per device" every time an "update" is pushed out is a terrible way of doing this and false when I see the tab opened several times in an evening during a browsing session.
ABP could do better, instead I have removed it and moved on to other add-ons as it's not worth the headache or interruptions. There are better, more competitive tools out there these days, that behave better than this... Sorry but you could do better. - Rated 5 out of 5by Yu, 8 days ago
