produces frequent error" canvas blocker is slowing down your browser, stop it?"
browser and or webpage issues warning that this extension is slowing down your browser do you want to stop it? - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 14059926, 5 months agoHas started to suddenly break a lot of websites, even while I have done no configuration changes in years. What's interesting that sites are broken even after disabling CanvasBlocker on a specific website (using the icon in the extension menu), only working once the entire extension is disabled. An example is a Grafana instance on the local network that I thought was a server-side issue, but was caused by CanvasBlocker (even while it was disabled for the domain).

posted 6 months agoPlease open an issue at https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/issues with your details. This should not happen and I do not see a massive memory consumption.- Rated 2 out of 5by Craig, 4 years ago
- Rated 2 out of 5by Harry Haller, 5 years agoUnfortunately, after installing CanvasBlocker in FF 74.0 (64-Bit), Twitter doesn't work any more. Maybe, there would be a setting to prevent this, but sorry, this should be set by default, since Twitter is a very common network. Also other common sites like translate.google.com don't work any more.

posted 5 years agoBoth sites work fine for me with default settings. Please open an issue at https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/issues with all your details so we can sort this problem out.
There we can communication better and you can track the progress of your problem. - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 13579870, 5 years agoleider kaum nutzbar!

- Rated 2 out of 5by Fred Thompson, 7 years agoDescription claims there is a whitelist option but...there is no visible way to see, let alone edit, such a list.
Developer response
posted 7 years agoThe whitelisting was hidden by the last release. You can whitelist by setting the desired blocking mode for the URL specifically. If you want to whitelist an URL just give it an "allow everything". You can still whitelist a site from the notifications. I should definitely clarify the description...
Adding an URL specific block mode:
go to options, click on the triangle next to the blocking mode, enter the domain you want to whitelist, click on the plus, now you can set the blocking mode for the domain.
PS: you can still enter something in the white list by checking expert mode, open the export settings page and entering something in the whitelist field.
EDIT: Is the screenshot of the settings not explanatory enough?
EDIT2: It's easier for us to communicate on github. If you have any questions - just open an issue. Here the communication is slow and not relyable.
EDIT3: please try version 0.4.4 - there the whitelist is available again. - Rated 2 out of 5by DarseZ, 7 years agoApologies, but this is an honest question: What would be the purpose of the add-on having access to 'all website data' such as banking/email login information?
Developer response
posted 7 years agoYou can look at the code (either at https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/ of you can download the xpi-file, change the extension to zip and look at the content). It does not store any private information or sends anything to a server.
UPDATE: I just realized I did not answer the question. The addon does not need access to login information (and does not use it). But there is no techical difference between the information the addon needs access to (the canvas and JS that are used for fingerprinting) and other information. I would gladly only take the permission to access the information that I only need - it's just not possible. - Rated 2 out of 5by Sampei Nihira, 7 years ago@ kkapsner
Please check the link below:

is positive for Canvas Defender and ScriptSafe for Chrome.
With CanvasBlocker the icon briefly appears and disappears immediately.

posted 7 years agoThanks for your finding. The faking is working fine - just the display of the icon is confused by this site. This will be fixed in the next release (see https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/issues/149 for reference - btw it's much easier for us to communicate on github via issues than AMO)
Since this is a minor issue there will not be a release for this alone.
