- Rated 2 out of 5by Ed Love, 6 years agoGood addon, but keeps on installing crappy search engines I've already deleted. STOP IT!
- Rated 4 out of 5by Todd Schmidt, 6 years agoStill giving high rating as expecting you'll get the recent memory hog issue fixed. I went through and disabled, enabled add-ons individually until confirming this one is causing massive memory usage. At some point, it completely freezes Firefox. This is a new phenomenon and will be missing your useful addon until you've got it fixed.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Alancove, 6 years agoExtremely useful add-on. The 3.66 version memory problem has been [very quickly] fixed in 3.67.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14036549, 6 years agoMemory problem was fixed fast. 5 Stars again..
"Recently massive memory leaks crashing firefox. Otherwise well done.." - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14057675, 6 years agoThe extension is great but after last update causes high CPU and HDD usage by Firefox. Disabling the extension immidiately solves the problem.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Sebastian Haberey, 6 years agoHey Olivier don't let the reviews drag you down. People are angry because the current version has a bug. But bugs happen and it does not change the fact that this is a great plugin. Keep up the good work!

posted 6 years agoThank you for your kind words, Sebastian, and SINCERE APOLOGIES to everyone for the bug encountered. I hadn't thoroughly verified the code changes. Will work on fixing the bug right away. Thank you all for your patience. - Rated 5 out of 5by Simon Tesla, 6 years agoEdit: the developer pulled 3.66 which had the memory leak, and it seems to be working well now, making this a handy extension once again.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Toby, 6 years ago6/10/18 Edit: It seem that the bug from the previous version has been eliminated, so the extension is back to its normal awesome state. Very useful and provides a very wide range of search options (for the most part, if a website has a "Search" function, you can add it to your context menu and search for the word/phrase you have highlighted on your active page. Very glad it was fixed quickly. Thanks.
Just like the other recent reviewers, I eventually narrowed it down to this add-on that was causing Firefox to use almost all of my available memory (slowing my computer to a crawl). I don't know if it's from a bad update to the extension, or if it can be fixed soon, but for now I'd avoid this add-on like the plague. Which is a shame because it was previously a convenient tool to have available. - Rated 5 out of 5by WeezyFloridaJJ, 6 years agoHey works fine now, how bout that. Thanks for fixing it, FF was wack without it. Honestly should be a part of Firefox. Actually for years, for me, it has been. Thank you.

posted 6 years agoYou should find that the problem has been fixed. Would you please update your rating. - Rated 4 out of 5by scottsan, 6 years agoI couldn't figure out why my Firefox memory usage was peaking to 6500 MB on a system with 8GB of RAM...and CPU usage often hovering over 90%. After disabling Context Search version 3.66 Firefox is behaving normally. Memory usage is around 1500 MB, and memory usage and CPU usage is under 10%.
AVOID VERSION 3.66!!
Glad to see the developer has taken the buggy version down. Otherwise this addon is very handy and version 3.65 works just fine.Developer response
posted 6 years agoI have disabled version 3.66 until further investigation is carried out. Please let me know whether you are reverted back to version 3.65 automatically (or upon checking updates for the addon). Thank you and we're sorry for the trouble caused by version 3.66. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14056589, 6 years agoVersion 3.66 has a major memory leak problem. As soon as it's enabled memory usage spikes until Windows complains of low memory. I have to ALT+CTRL+DEL to terminate FF and restart with addons disabled. Previous version doesn't have this issue and works well. Will make due with previous version until 3.66 is fixed. Great Addon BTW.
@Dev, When I encountered the problem with v3.66 I disabled the addon and auto addon update. Then I reverted to v3.65 in "Version History" of this page so I cannot specifically confirm. But upon manually checking for updates, v3.65 shows up as the latest version and no update is required on my end. I understand that bugs do occur and appreciate your hard work.Developer response

"Selection ContextSearch".
However I stick with "Context Search".
Only I Need is Synchronization via Firefox Account - I dont want to import settings on each machine.
Then it will be The Best. - Rated 5 out of 5by pr_woktoss, 6 years agoVery useful! 5-stars. Developers may consider adding a popup panel similar to "Swift Selection Search" add-on.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12812657, 6 years agoThe extension is useful.
Just one feature would make it perfect for me:
By right-clicking on TEXT that contains some link you can search for that TEXT (not URL).
Just like FF's native context search does it but with various search engines.
Context Search extention by Ben Basson I used before also did the same.
Would be great. Thanks anyway. - Rated 5 out of 5by Bossa Nova, 6 years agoThank you!
Are you planning to add the ability to right-click on a link and search for the link title?
Right now, right-clicking on a link, I see the word "link" (not the link title) and it does not perform any search. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13082926, 6 years agoThanks a lot for updating this extension for the new beast, I have missed it so much!
- Rated 5 out of 5by nikgrc, 6 years agoThanks for this nice extension!
Features request:
1. Do not use "storage-sync.sqlite" file to save search engines, please save them in a file in your extension's folder "...\profile\browser-extension-data\olivier.debroqueville@gmail.com".
2. Allow the use of variables so next searches to work:
a) Search selection In current Page (ex: https://www.google.com/search?q={searchTerms}+site:{variable for "doc.location.hostname"}
b) Translate Current Page in ENGLISH (ex: https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&u=+{variable for "doc.location.href"})
c) Open link in Google Docs Viewer (ex: https://docs.google.com/viewer?hl=en&embedded=true&chrome=true&url={variable for document link})

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13845637, 6 years agoHi,
I am using Firefox Quantum 58.0.2 (64-Bit), German version. After one of the last updates all ContextSearch favicons are gone. I hope this will be fixed.
Will there be a German localized version of this useful addon? - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13808142, 6 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by mikey_m, 6 years agoThis looks like just what I need! Thanks (also for fixing that bug so quickly)!

posted 6 years agoThank you for spotting that bug! I've submitted version 3.63 which should fix it.

I'm sorry for the trouble and please let me know if you encounter any other problems. You may submit bugs on Github at the above address. - Rated 4 out of 5by infinium, 6 years agoNice extension, thanks for all the work you've put into this. A few problems and suggestions: first, for some reason the search icons don't seem to load (58.0.2), they used to load sometimes but now it doesn't work at all - it seems that the addon tries to download them every time you open FF, why not cache them instead? Second: if possible make the context search menu appear when dragging the selected text some distance so you can drop it over a context search option (the old QuickDrag addon used to do this I think, before FF 57 destroyed the old addon capabilities). Thanks.

posted 6 years agoI would need to know more about the website you want to search, because it looks like there's some routing process going on, but I'm not sure. Basically, I think you need to find out more about the combination of actions and sub-actions available. Each specific website may have its own combinations. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 5585354, 6 years agoIt's possible to add www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de to contex search?
