- Rated 3 out of 5by Alex Mirnov, 8 days ago1)

posted 15 hours agoHey Alex, Many thanks for reporting these issues. Please also make a small effort to write in English so that everyone can get a chance to understand. Google translate is your friend:
1) Does not accept old saves, had to do everything again.
2) Resets saved sites to standard ones after restarting the computer (permission granted).
3) Standard sites use conflicting (with Microsoft) hotkeys, who invented it?
I'm very sorry for the trouble encountered, especially for 1 & 2. I have released an update (v5.0.3) which should fix this issue. Concerning the 3rd item, i.e. the bad choice of keyboard shortcuts for Windows users, it's been reported on GitHub and I've added a button to clear all keyboard shortcuts so users can add their own. https://imgur.com/a/JqGE8a2 - Rated 3 out of 5by BZ, 17 days agoOverall good, but several of the default keyboard shortcuts are the same as Firefox keyboard shortcuts, leading to confusing behavior (at least on Windows, not sure about others).

posted 13 hours agoYou can easily change a keyboard shortcut by selecting it and using whatever key combination you fancy. Alternatively, you can use the "Clear all keyboard shortcuts" button to remove all of them. - Rated 3 out of 5by SSSR, 2 years agoIn Firefox you can quickly toggle on and off the main Menu Bar visibility by pressing the Alt key.
But this extension breaks this functionality.
Unfortunately, I have to refuse to use it and disable this extension. - Rated 3 out of 5by Kougeru, 4 years agoAugust 24th update deleted ALL my settings. that's fun. 3 stars for being amazing for years tho

posted 4 years agoIf you didn't make a backup of your custom search engines list, you may still be able to do so, but it's a bit of a laborious process. Please view my message to @ghmv here: https://github.com/odebroqueville/contextSearch/issues/82 - Rated 3 out of 5by chaoscreater, 5 years agoWorks, but doesn't account for scenarios where there may be additional search strings after the "=" operator.
Other search engines would use a variable or something in place of the search query, e.g. %s represents the search term. You could place %s anywhere in the search URL.Developer response
posted 5 years agoAs stated in the description under point 5: "The checkbox is followed by the search query string. This is the generic url you would use to perform a search. Search query strings may contain the parameters %s or {searchTerms} where you'd like your search terms to appear, i.e. the selected text." - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 14241684, 5 years ago
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13617644, 6 years agoThe idea is good, but it doesn't save the checkboxes and doesn't save added search engines :(

posted 6 years agoI know there are a few bugs and I'm trying to get them sorted out shortly. If you have some spare time, please give the dev version on Github a try and let me know if it works for you. But bare in mind that it's still a work in progress. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 14153536, 6 years ago

posted 6 years agoSorry about that, Jason. It's a bug and it's been registered on github here: https://github.com/odebroqueville/contextSearch/issues/129- Rated 3 out of 5by Rick-0, 6 years agoWorkes very well - even with ampersands, unlike the three-year-old Chrome exension of the same name.
The only problem I have so far is with re-aranging the searches. Up/down arrows are slow, and having to follow that entry and its arrow is a bit inconvenient. Drag-and-drop would make things much easier & faster. - Rated 3 out of 5by antistress, 7 years agoHi, I used to make use of Ben Basson's Context Search which is not compatible with Firefox 57+ therefore thank you for making this webextension alternative :)
2 suggestions :
- Having 2 search engine lists to maintain (firefox internal + context search one) doesn't feel optimum nor practical : it would be great if Context Search could make use of Firefox Search Engines
- Another extension that I use to complete Ben Basson's Context Search is Add to search bar, whic is not compatible ever with Firefox 57. It would be cool if your Context Search extension could propose it
Thanks again :)Developer response
posted 7 years agoDue to technical limitations, we currently cannot integrate properly with the search engines stored in Firefox. We will integrate with your Firefox search engines when it becomes possible.
Good idea, we will consider your second suggestion.
Clarification: we're talking about detecting search engines on a certain website and adding those to Context Search. - Rated 3 out of 5by U.C., 7 years agoIt would be great if the user could choose whether to see the search engine bar immediately or in the context menu. As shown by the Add-on "Selected Search". After marking a text passage a popup with your search engines will be shown. There you can select the search engine that will be used on the text fragment.
