- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16994290, 2 months agoIf your browser is sandboxed with Snap or Flatpak, this extension does not work. It's not fixable as the required integration breaks the sandbox and so won't be allowed. If you have a browser installed on your host computer (i.e. native, not sandboxed) then there is no problem with this extension. But since Firefox is now ONLY supplied as Flatpak or Snaps on Ubuntu, this effectively locks out all Linux users from using KeepassXC.

But it has everything to do with the extension. It is designed in a way that is simply incompatible with the security model of a sandboxed browser. Nothing about the sandbox is "broken", the kind of code execution required by the extension and the server is what a sandbox is designed to prevent. This is exactly what a malicious extension would do to break out of the sandbox. The team should be working on this, or else users will just abandon the project. I'm certainly not going to try to convince Ubuntu that Snap is broken on your behalf, I'm just going to install something else that works.Developer response
posted 2 months agoThis has nothing to do with the extension itself, but Snap/Flatpak implementation of the browser itself. Ubuntu already added support for Native Messaging with Snap Firefox. If it's broken, Ubuntu's Snap team should be contacted. Sadly we cannot do anything about it. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15552148, 3 months agoAddon doesnt connect to Database - German version - you can click on the buttom but nothing else - no popup, no window on how to connect. I disabled it and went back to native Keepass. Firefox 122.0.1, KeePassXC 2.7.6.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18207686, 4 months agoUnfortunately, the extension does not work. it keeps telling me no logins are found, despite all of them being in my database.
I disabled exact matches, i disabled match url and restarted both firefox and keepassxc and it still didnt work. - Rated 1 out of 5by Steve, 5 months agoCan't integrate KeePassXC_Browser with KeePassXC on Linux Mint.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Chris, 9 months agoNoch nie einen so schlechten Passwortmanager gesehen.
Nutzlos!
- Rated 1 out of 5by electron, a year agoWär schön, wenn KeePassXC auch Passwörter auf der Registrierungsseite speichern könnte. Aber hauptsache auf der Passwort-Vergessen Seite wird man dann auch mal gefragt, ob man das Passwort speichern möchte, aber auch nicht immer.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Eng.Dark Alchemist, a year agoonly work with KeepassXC app. I use Keepass (original project) portable and I am unable to set KeePassXC-Browser

posted a year agoIt is up to the original KeePass project to implement support for this extension. For a workaround you can check KeePassNatMsg, but it is not an official plugin by us. - Rated 1 out of 5by Wonko, a year ago2023 and still dragging the "Key exchange was not successful" bug, probably not even the original one but the fact the message is not helpful is just a UX failure.

posted a year agoThe extension shows a link to the troubleshooting guide if Reload button is pressed a few times. If you see that error, it's mostly because of a Snap browser where only Firefox is currently supported. - Rated 1 out of 5by Joe, a year agoThis extension does exactly nothing. I've connected the database with KeePassXC on Fedora but nothing will have it pasted any name or password field. Not sure why this is here. It would be helpful if there was some support for Fedora. On windows it shows Geen verbinding met KeePassXC. Controleer in KeePassXC-instellingen of browserintegratie geactiveerd is.

- Rated 1 out of 5by FW Brooklyn Skinny, a year agoAs reported by other users, and NOT EVER properly mitigated by supposed "gurus" of FireFox. . .here is the crux of the current issue. . ."connected" KeePassXC DBs are somehow NOT integrated with the browser (this has been verified on current versions of FireFox, FireFox/Tor, Edge, and Chrome); that is, the KeePass extention keeps displaying a small window that seemingly requires "Redetect login fields." HOWEVER, each and every attempt to on/select the field to do so, results is NOTHING (that is NO detection happens and user is continually in a "loop" of trying to and redetect, ad neaseum!) Clearly there are some nefarious "players" in the Windows 10 realm! MITIGATE PLEASE! and stop telling users to do QA-ing!
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17540712, 2 years agofor no reasons the extension stopped connecting to my database and the troubleshooting is not helping solving the problem. it is a really a shame the security of the app is great

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12370795, 2 years agoI had the same problem, as every body else concerning the fact that, KeePassXC-Browser add-on was NOT connecting anymore with the app (database). I just downgraded the app to version 2.7.0 and now it's working fine again.
UPDATE (2 month after)
Username/password entries have mysteriously disappeared from my database, so I'm uninstalling KeePassXC and it's FF extension.Developer response
posted 2 years agoThere should be no changes between 2.7.0 and 2.7.1 concerning the browser integration. But of course we are investigating the possible issue. - Rated 1 out of 5by Daniel, 2 years agoThough the plugin is connected with the database it doesn't work correctly. It provides no credentials, no matther which website i'm using.
Developer response
posted 2 years agoUsually the issue is with the entry URL's. The simpler URL, the more it matches. It's not suggested to use full URL's with path, variables etc. included. Just use addresses like https://example.com, https://subdomain.example.com or https://example.com/login.
If you cannot solve the problem, contact us on GitHub and make a new issue with details provided, thanks. - Rated 1 out of 5by Kraig, 2 years agoWould not fill in any sites that I went to. There seems to be a disconnect somewhere between the extension and KeePassXC. I like the idea of KeePass, but I need a way to use it with my browser. I see lots of people have this issue. Please fix.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15613985, 2 years agoThis addon stablishes connection with google and amazon without any warning to user
Developer response
posted 2 years agoKeePassXC-Browser does not establish connections to either Google or Amazon. What you are seeing is most likely this: https://github.com/keepassxreboot/keepassxc-browser/issues/100
Firefox has a habit of forking native messaging processes without dropping previously established connections first, so it looks like the new process holds connections to other servers, when it fact it doesn't. That is a Firefox bug and nothing we can fix. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17086033, 3 years agoThis addon works by connecting to the KeepassXC program and filling login fields with the passwords from the Keepass vault.
It works extremely poorly for a number of reasons:
First: It does not reliably connect to the KeepassXC program. It will occasionally disconnect and require you to restart KeepassXC before connecting again.
Second: The password fill feature fails far more often than it works. I would estimate that I can only successfully fill password forms on 5 to 10% of the websites I visit.
Third: When the auto-fill feature does work, it is frequently followed by an erroneous "your password has changed" prompt asking if you want to create a new entry for the site you literally just filled in.
Fourth: The user interface is minimalist to a fault. You are given no indication as to why the program cannot or will not fill the password fields. Is it because it doesn't think I have a password for the domain? Has it lost the connection? Is there some invisible blocking me from clicking on the password icon? There is no way to tell, the addin simply doesn't respond.
I am using KeepassXC 2.6.6 and browser extension version 1.7.9.1Developer response
posted 3 years agoThank you for the feedback. If any of these issues are not solved, please open a ticket at GitHub.
First: This sounds like the keepassxc-proxy that is transferring the messages between the extension and KeePassXC is shutdown. This might be due to anti-virus software or some other process that interferes with it. The next time this happens, check if the process is running.
Second: Please use as simple URL's as possible in your entries. If the site you're using is for example https://loginpage.example.com/login/something?yes=no, the best entry URL for this kind of page is https://loginpage.example.com/login/, https://loginpage.example.com (or just https://example.com).
Third: This means even after filling it doesn't regognize an entry from that page. Verify the page and entry URL again.
Fourth: Yes. It's very minimal. Notifications on why the filling doesn't work needs to be added so there's some indication to the user why nothing happens. If you've lost the connection totally, the icon should be gray with and X (or gray with a lock icon if database is closed).
