Tab Session Manager by sienori

by nzpete54, 7 years agoI had to find a replacement for the old Session Manager, which worked well until FF57, and then not at all.
I give kudos to the author of this add on for going to the trouble to provide an extension that substitutes for the legacy Session Manager in part. If it can duplicate more of the functionality of the older extension, it would rate FIVE stars for sure. But I thank the author and rate four stars at this time.
There are issues which I hope can be dealt with as this extension develops:
- I had a large 196 tab session saved, which Tab Session Manager shows OK, but when I try to open the session, only a portion of them do load. There seems to be a limit here. It would be nice if there was not.
- I note the latest version 1.5 has an option to Export the tabs (I presume as a list of links), but I haven't located this feature. This would enable me to sort through the 196 tabs mentioned in the previous point, so I hope I can find it - FOUND IT! Cool. Oh, but it only exports as a .json file which is not so useful. Update: but it is not to hard to manipulate the file with Notepad++ using "windowId": value to extract the tabs from a particular session.
- I echo the statement of "Anonymous user 8e0130" who asked "Is there anyway to have it not load non-active tabs?"

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15981283, 2 days agoIt seems to do most of what I expected. One part I had hoped is that it would remember window placement (where are they on screen ... and which virtual desktop are they on). Unfortunately, it doesn't do either. For me, this just seems to be another way to do what "Restore Session" already does.

- Rated 1 out of 5by randomhero1, 7 days agoDoes not work. File has the data inside it, yet this add on does nothing with it.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Wizzergod, 25 days agoVery interesting extension, but there are shortcomings, especially in terms of optimizations after 1000+ saved sessions it starts to lag, freeze, etc., developers, do something about this, optimize the list of sessions so that when you open the menu, not all sessions are loaded at once, but in parts, or make a page mode instead of scrolling, otherwise it’s a complete disaster with the list of sessions!!!, and by the way, for some reason, the extension works better and faster on Chrome than in Mozilla, but there too, if you save a lot of sessions, it starts to freeze, but in Chrome there is also session-buddy, also good, I recommend it, it’s a pity there is no Tab Session Master analogue for Mozilla.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Zsolt Jonas, a month agoIt would be a very great extension but unfortunately it cannot work together the Tree Style Tab. Yes I know it says it can but it's not true. It can restore the tabs with Tree Style Tab in 1 time of 10 attempts, in other cases I lose the Tree Style Tab settings, what is very annoying and I don't says polite words during that time when I have restore the trees manually. What is not a funny process with more hundreds tabs.

thank you.
BEST: sync with cloud. - Rated 2 out of 5by Nicola, a month agoThe extension would be useful, unfortunately it has already happened to me a few times, that when restarting Firefox the tabs opened when closed are not restored. Unfortunately I lose many tabs that I can not recover and I do not like this, so I have to uninstall the extension.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13215542, a month agoOne of my most used extensions. I wish it was available for Firefox on Android.
