- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17391463, 3 months agoSeveral years ago the developer stopped supporting his plugins to focus on Thunderbird. I hope he isn't the one responsible for how bad Thunderbird is now, because if so he should have stuck to plugins.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Afzal, 2 years agoDiscontinued by developer, so move onto something else. And it no longer works, and no point in trying to find out why.
- Rated 1 out of 5by J007, 2 years agoAs noted in the "About this extension" section and on the Github repo, this is no longer maintained as of 2022. Further, it doesn't seem to work for many people. For myself, it doesn't work on an m2 mac with Firefox 114.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16666464, 2 years agoCould not get the extension to work. No debug codes were given in the firefox browser console, python console or CMD console
- Rated 1 out of 5by NitramLK, 2 years agoOnly for Unix geeks. I'm no newbie, but have tried absolutely everything on here and it simply will not install. Latest version of Python? Check. ---Terminal commands: can only get it ti recognise if I drag the .py file onto terminal. Then, install sill not run no matter the combo. 'Command not found'. This should be part of T-Bird's BASIC setups.
- Rated 1 out of 5by metal321, 3 years agoI've looked thru the reviews for this extension to figure out how to install it and none of the suggestions have helps. When I run the cmd line I get the same result every time:
C:\Users\metal321\OpenWithScript>open_with_windows.py install
This is the Open With native helper, version 7.2.6.
Run this script again with the word "install" after the file name to install.
I found this extension: Open in Google Chrome Browser
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/open-in-chrome-browser/#:~:text=%22Open%20in%20Google%20Chrome%22%20extension,manually%20copy%20and%20paste%20links.
It works by simply installing it and there are a number of other
extensions for other browsers and programs listed here:

I type the path in cmd with the script name and then install, but cmd keeps telling me to type install.

I have no idea where the error is. - Rated 1 out of 5by Kentaskis, 3 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by PeaceByJesus.net, 4 years agoDoes not work in Quantum: instructions are poor and following a tutorial for installing the two additional files still results in failure. Sorry.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16959200, 4 years agoNécessite Python, pas facile à installer avec Windows, Surtout un Windows 7 !

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16179708, 5 years agoSorry, this add-on has served me well in the past, but now it completely stopped working on Firefox (clicking the browser icons does nothing, and sometimes it the menu also displays the message "Open With can't connect to the outside world"). I of course would prefer to get support fixing this rather than leaving a low rating, but there doesn't seem to be any realistic way to request help.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13447497, 5 years agoNot easy to install. tried doing this on my FF Portable. Installed the Python program and ran the command "open_with_windows.py install" Nothing happens and the open_with_windows.py file is opend in my text editor. When I click the Test Installation button get a cryptic message"Something went wrong. There might be more information in the Browser Console."
Extremely poor documentation. Don't know whether this works with FF Portable. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14587816, 6 years agoI am not some Mozilla Geek. I just wanted to get Thunderbird mail to open using Chrome instead of Firefox. I found this Add-On and tried to install it. However the instructions are terrible!!
When I try to set the Options all I get is a message "To complete installation:" with instructions that are WAY TOO LIMITED. I think I got Python installed by running the file when it downloaded.
But, I can't get the rest of the instructions to work. When I click "Test Installation" all I get is a cryptic, useless message.
So, if you are not familiar about how to install add-ons, you may want to save the frustration and skip this one!! - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13603420, 7 years agoCannot find a way to install the extra program this requires on a Mac. Have some experience of using Terminal and am very IT literate, without being an IT professional, but can not get this off the ground with the instructions supplied.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Louis, 7 years agoNot an extension. It's merely a trigger for another program that must be installed (hard to do). This belongs in another category.
There are still no clear instructions on how to actually install all the stuff needed (it's complicated). It's a wonder this extension has such a high rating but I see I'm not the only who wasted his time for nothing.
Suggestion for the next update: Clear, bullet list instructions on how to install all this stuff and a warning that this is not a real extension until another program is installed. - Rated 1 out of 5by CanIregisterThisTime, 7 years agoNot enough documentation. Opening a link from release Firefox in Nightly just opens up a new tab. I can't figure out what "command" to put in to get it to open links in Vivaldi. I did visit the github but there's not a lot of information there.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Bossa Nova, 7 years agoIt may not be the developer's fault that he had to modify this extension like this, but now it is useless because too complicated to install. You have to understand what Python is and how to install it (on a Mac). I tried it several times and couldn't.
- Rated 1 out of 5by 8394147, 7 years agoFollowed the directions for Firefox 57. Doesn't work. I keep getting "open_with_windows.py is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." Lame.
