I had the occasion to need to pause the download of a large list of files recently. The pause button worked perfectly. Only issue I had was trying to get the list to start downloading again. I eventually did figure it out, but to me it was not at all intuitive.
I think there should be a button located next to pause to "resume all" or maybe change the pause button to a "resume all" button. I initially just clicked the "start selected", assuming that it meant that everything in the download list is what would be considered "selected". When nothing happened, I started to explore other options. Found I could start individuals by clicking on them. Eventually I found the select all button, then was back in business.
That really is more complicated than it should be. I can see the need for the ability to select certain ones and to just start those when doing the queue method, but after hitting pause, it should be able to resume whatever was downloading prior to pausing.

- Rated 3 out of 5by vkyf, 5 months agoIt work OK, not the best, It will do it say but it doesn't retain it setting, every time load new files have to re-input all setting like px filter, dir, ext....., preview, when re-open Firefox the Multirename setting not retain too, and if u don't put ext after the counter the files will not have ext, also it should automatic go back to the Resource list page the next time load files, the image tab should have option toggle on all time instead of have to press load image link then again have to press image tab every time to show images, it just too too too many press press press....., but thanks for your hard work to create this add-on.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Anona Mause, 2 years agoWhen it works its great but when it doesn't its hopeless. Its error handling is non existent and its inflexibility makes it more trouble than its worth.
Far too often in batch mode, which is its primary selling point, rather than downloading the file required it instead downloads the html page and worse still then claims its the rar or zip file that was the original target. It reports what was a failure as a success. That it cannot recognise what is a successful download is a fundamental flaw and one that makes it unfit for purpose.
As a result at the end of a batch download you are left with an almighty mess where perhaps 50% or more of the file downloads have failed and there is no easy way to fix it.
Instead you have to sort the files out manually and then manually redo the downloads. SMD gives you no assistance in error management.
The lack of information (eg the links actually used) data export capability (eg a list of the failed links), the ability to change the order of items as viewed (eg you cannot order the items on screen by size etc they are fixed in their original import order), logging features (eg what has failed and what hasn't) etc, all of which, if available, might assist in error rectification, undermine any value this might have.
Instead of saving time, SMD doubles the amount of time needed to achieve the task with treble the frustration, As such its not fit for purpose especially if you have tens or hundreds of downloads to complete in a limited timescale. Its more trouble than its worth and equally does not provide sufficient guidance on how best to use it.
I really wish I'd remembered why I first stopped using this before I tried it again. Its going to take me hours to sort this mess out! - Rated 4 out of 5by Kasper, 2 years agoIt would be nice if the download folder could be freely chosen (not just the download folder or a subfolder of it.
It would be nice to indicate if you want to replace the files instead of adding (1), (2) - Rated 5 out of 5by bolynu, 2 years ago

It would be nice if the download folder could be freely chosen (not only the download folder or a subfolder of it) but I can live with that. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16857659, 2 years ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by vyr, 2 years agoQuite difficult to figure out how to use. Filter for file extension failed. But I achieved what I wanted, thank you.

- Rated 5 out of 5by cintyaenciso28, 3 years agoI love it. very easy to use. All you do is click the download arrow, refresh my resource list and you choose what you want to download. I can filter what files i want and also there is an option if you want to download images it will show you all the images just the image files for you to just download that. You can search for the extension file you want to download. Once your done you can clear your downloads and if there was an issue with a specific download only those would remain in your download list. You can just click again to redownload or clear the inactive links.. Very easy to use and very useful. Thank you so much. I recommend this add on.
