Tab Manager Plus for Firefox by Markus

by HristoPenkov, 4 years agoAwful, it doesn't restore the tabs at all. I have a session with around 500 tabs saved, each time I click on the restore button it just opens up 3 or 5 unrelated tabs from god knows when and that's it.
This is the second time this has happened, the first time I lucked out and somehow managed to make it restore the window with all of the tabs. Sadly my procrastination got the better of me and I never wrote down how I managed to do it, come to think of it I should have just installed another addon instead.
Now I have a the saved window sitting there, with all the tabs listed, when I hover over them the links are displayed, yet I can't copy them and I can't restore the session.
Edit:
The method provided by the developer below worked and I was able to restore my session.
I don't know how to reply so I decided to update the review and also bump up the rating. I was emotional when I originally wrote the review and I don't think it's fair for the addon to receive such a low rating due to 1 bug, especially when the developer was quick to offer a working solution.
As far as the number of tabs is concerned, unless the addon is opened in it's own tab it won't restore windows no matter how many tabs are present, which is weird as everything else in the UI is working correctly.
Anyway, thanks for the help and sorry for my bad temper.
Cheers.

posted 4 years agoHi Hristo,
first of all that doesn't seem right - it shouldn't behave this way. But please remember that "session management" is marked as an experimental feature and that it's in beta. So you have to use it on your own risk. I have never tested it on a window with 500 tabs...
Now to solve your issue : Can you please try to open the tab manager in its' own tab ( right click on the icon and "Open in own tab" ) and then try restoring the sessions from there? And then see if that works?
Edit: Glad it worked for you! It seems the popup gets closed half-way when sending the request to the background page - maybe the background page gets killed because the popup was closed? Going to investigate this for one of the next updates! Thank you for the update and confirming the work-around!
Best,
Markus

- Rated 5 out of 5by Scribe, a month agoI love this add-on. Super convenient. I set the popup to Ctrl + Space and then start typing to quickly find tabs of interest.
The only things I can think of for a "would be nice to have" is the ability to manage saved windows, like renaming and dragging tabs from live to saved.
If I even touch a saved window it restores it and loads all the tabs at once, which is a bit painful if you have a ton of tabs. Probably would be better to have them start unloaded. - Rated 5 out of 5by igorlogius, 3 months ago

I was pretty sure it was done, and I'd have to live with bugs like not being able to move private window tabs around while in one. Ublock Origin, Bitwarden and Tab Manager Plus are the first things installed on any browser. I'm just glad when the world needed him the most, he didn't vanish.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Hierodule, 5 months agoI also use Workspaces in Vivaldi, and was looking for a way to replicate the experience as best as possible. This tab manager is helping immensely with that.
No complaints. The only "issue" I have has nothing to do with the extension, but with my force of habit.
It's taking me some time to get used to the idea that here I am dealing with tabs grouped not in a single window, but MULTIPLE ones. On Vivaldi all tab groups reside on a single window. I've lost the count of times I've had to use the browser's History to restore the window I've just closed, thinking that I was shutting down the browser. :-) - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18618318, 5 months ago

This is the best tab manager I've found to try to replicate what I had with Workspaces in Vivaldi. I switched away from Chrome based browsers, so I was lacking some of the awesome features of Vivaldi. The ability to just save windows for later is a part of my workflow and my tabs get out of control without it.Developer response
posted 5 months agoTry with the latest update - 5.2.3. It should work with restoring sessions from a popup. Before that it should have worked by opening the tab manager in an own tab. - Rated 1 out of 5by AlexOja, 6 months agoUI is clunky, weirdly implemented, wasteful, unclear and unintuitive. One of the worst out there. Though I'm comparing to ones on a different platform. For me this is unbearable and useless.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Aguilucho, a year agoIs it possible to arrange the tabs by url or alphabetically?
