Exactly what I was looking for, a way to organize my different activities into tasks, brilliant. On improvements, having to click 2 edit buttons to rename a workspace is a slight pain. Also text is too small and colour scheme could use some work. I will give this a longer-term go before I give a proper rating. - Rated 4 out of 5by Oliv, 7 years agoPros :
- automatically save new tabs to (delete closed tabs from) current/active group (or workspace)
- switch group does not add new windows
Cons :
- cannot directly open a group in a new window. If you open a new window, you don't have access to your groups (you have to create a new set of groups for this particular window)
- switch groups reload all tabs (I know this is actually Firefox's fault), hope it will be corrected when Firefox allows hide tabs
- cannot re-order the groups, when you have many of them it can be annoying
- you cannot see the tabs in the "group view", so :
* you cannot choose the tab you want to go when you switch groups
* no delete tabs button (must open the group first) - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13562304, 7 years agoVery good job, so far it is the best replacement I have found, and considering the limitations we have to work with now a worthy replacement of what used to be. When I found out Tab Groups no longer worked I considered making my own version, especially after I tried a couple others, thankfully I found your version and it saved me the trouble.
There are a few things I think are missing, but they might be limitations of WebExtensions also, I haven't done any work in WebExtensions to know. The most important for me would be just the ability to organize the order the groups show up. The second most important would be the ability to close out tabs without actually opening the tab group. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13494107, 7 years agoLike coutless other users I came here as an alternative to Tab Groups. I'm glad to get the functionality back as it helps my multi tasking.
I'd give it 5stars, but having all tabs reload when switching workspace is overloading my ram and freezing my computer while I try sort all my Tabs back into groups. - Rated 4 out of 5by André Ribet, 7 years agoMuy bueno, un salvavidas a la desaparicion de tabs grup, pero me falta que indique que espacio está seleccionado

As improvements i like to see
1. Make the drop down window a bit wider, when there are more then 10 Workspaces a vertical Scrollbar appears and forces a horizontal scrollbar to appear.
2. A option to save my Tabgroups to a file as backup. - Rated 4 out of 5by arnofly, 7 years agoThanks, Fonso for your Tab Groups version, it's a good job! I have just a request : I would like an option that lets the user remove the background colour theme. White is beautiful ;)
- Rated 4 out of 5by Aimhere, 7 years agoTab Groups was what really set Firefox apart from other browsers, and it was the one feature I was really, really going to miss in FF57. I'm glad a wizard like Fonso managed to create a Webextension that retains much of the functionality of Tab Groups, even if it's not 100% there. Thanks, Fonso!
The only real problem (so far) that's not due to limitations of Webextensions: The toolbar icon is VERY hard to see in "dark" Firefox themes... think dark grey on even darker grey/black. I'd like the icon revised to include some color/fill so it stands out no matter what the Firefox theme colors. - Rated 4 out of 5by Patrick Mangou, 7 years agoI was a fan of Tab Groups, used it all the time and got desperate when I heard it wouldn't be running on FF 57. I was considering writing an extension to replace it, but Fonso did all the work for me and that's wonderful! Of course I liked the full-screen display of all my groups and tabs in Tab Groups, but understand it's impossible to replicate. On the other hand, closing the unused groups or workspaces frees RAM, along with the new efficiency of FF 57. With FF 55 and Tab Groups I usually climbed up to 4GB (25% of my RAM), and at that point, FF began to slow down and bug; I knew I had to close it down and restart it. With FF57 and Tab Workspaces, FF uses only a few percents of my RAM! It's very useful because I multi-task a lot with memory-hungry programs (e.g., GIS software + Illustrator + InDesign + Acrobat etc).
Only 4 stars because I find annoying that switching to another workspace loads all the pages in this workspace, which (1) takes some time, (2) forces to go to some tabs to stop videos from starting. I would suggest :
-either to provide a list of the tabs when selecting a workspace, so you could choose the tab you want to open (but still display all the tabs, ready to be re-opened)
-or arbitrarily only open the leftmost or the rightmost tab for example (while displaying all the tabs as above)
Is it technically possible?
