- Rated 1 out of 5by Iantuition, 5 months agoNearly useless - having to first double-click the download in the status bar to open the download, then click "open download" in ANOTHER pop-up window (which often doesn't even come into focus, so the user has to find it) is more time consuming than simply opening the download window and opening the file from there. Uninstalled.

- Rated 1 out of 5by BMC, 5 years agoIt doesn't open the file. It opens a windows that has a link to open the file. That stupid hack window also randomly disappears.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Atherworld, 6 years agoDoes nothing. No status bsr is created for downloads on Firefox 66.0.3

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13586117, 7 years agoSo close to the original DSB ??? Must be a joke.
The 'autohide after download' function does not stay, even the defaulted 'autohide of everything when not specified' doesn't work.
The downloads are by default routed to to the download folder, without any possibility to get the usual "last selected location" behaviour.
Colors for the very obtrusive bars are not selectable.
And this is called by some trolls here as "so close" ?
Got rid of this add-on. Don't let yourself be fooled. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13699676, 7 years agoIt needs to "access my data for all websites"? No thanks....

I don't think it's good idea. Installation process was cancelled by me. Sorry.
PS. There's no replies chain so just had to add.
If you used already built-in downloads for visualisation in status bar, your addon don't need to access my data then.
If you didn't used built-in downloads it means you used bad practice. Your addon will use more PC's resources and slow down Firefox.
Also users don't trust addons that request access to data because data may content personal information, logins/passwords, credit cards info, etc.

posted 7 years agoYou seem to not understand how web extensions work. The old download status bar addon didn't ask for any permissions because legacy addons didn't have a permission system.
There is no way to show a status bar currently without injecting HTML into each page, which means the addon needs access to every website you visit.
Once Mozilla adds an API that allows creating real status bars then it will not need access to all pages, but that could be months away if not longer. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13614700, 7 years agoPoor copy of old and vastly superior Download Statusbar.
It has no bonus options of old one, no popup info when hovering pointer over file that downloads, if downloaded file has long name, you have to open containing folder to see it fully (not useful when downloading lots of similarly named files).
It cover sizeable chunk of screen (compared to just enough from old one), and Divines help you if you did not click on "keep it in one row" option...
Since sadly old one was not updated anymore, apparently creator of this one tried to cash in on users which could not go without old one.
PS: I see dev got butthurt by being called out on his poor copy. Made my day.

posted 7 years agoThe old extensions are dead and aren't coming back.
If the tooltips or something aren't working for you create an issue on GitHub instead of acting like an entitled douchebag.
If you don't like this extension feel free to make a better one, it seems so far I'm the only person to put any effort into creating a replacement. I made this because there was no existing replacement and I wanted one, not to "cash in", since I'm not getting paid for it anyways.
