It does fine in remembering the tabs and windows I saved but when i backup a session and try to reopen it it only opens 10-50% of the tabs i had open, and i have to do the rest manually.

Has option to open full page view as default. But no closing tabs nor windows is possible.

Confusing mess. Sessions get lost or overwritten due to unintuitive UI. Common features are hidden, while seldom used ones are prominent.

I've found good tab managers hard to find. This is one I settled on for FF since it has the functionality I'm looking for (I like to have lots of windows and tabs open). I would give it 5 stars for this reason. There are some bugs like the tabs that have the title but no URL. William W said it is due to the Lazy loading. But it doesn't always happen that way. So its a bug. I see the comment about FF 63+ fixes this. Perhaps it is and i haven't noticed. I'll be sure to look for this now. I appreciate a developer's time writing these addons. It must be tough to receive negative feedback. Kudos for putting it out there. A star is lost for saying "- In fact, the source used to have a GPL license. I've just changed it to closed source because of this review.". Not cool. It looses 2 stars because it has permission to "Access your data for all websites", which from my understanding could include passwords typed in to pages. I understand the Mozilla review process is sound though one still needs to ask why you need this permission. If anything William you need to state the reason why. I would think only "Access browser tabs" permissions are required. Sorry to give what started as a good review only 2 stars.

it does everything other thing it says to do, but it is failing to restore previous session at startup even when I have that option ticked. please fix it

I wanted to like this addon, since it's one of the few that doesn't use bookmarks to manage sessions, and it does well when restoring sessions. It doesn't seem to handle sessions with a lot of tabs very well, though - opening the session manager popup lags really bad and freezes the whole browser, and when I had this installed I noticed a periodic lag/stutter every so often that went away after disabling it (I'm guessing this was from a session being saved). I also noticed in recent release notes that the license has been changed to a closed source one. This is an absolute no-go for me, as I don't trust addons that aren't open source. As such, I'm permanently uninstalling this from my Firefox.

As another user wrote, randomly it doesn't show content of some tabs in some windows. You can restore 4 windows with 3 tabs each one (for example) and some times it doesn't restore the CONTENT of two or more tabs that, however shows the site nam, but you have LOST THE URL, so reloading those tabs does nothing but erase the name of the site.
Uninstalled

Remenber a tab and put the in any new tab without give me possibility to reset or erase that.

I love this extension and it have all the functionalities I could expect. However I noticed it's causing to my tabs to change for what seems to be a previously saved page in some session, when I open a link in a new tab and go back to it after a short time it starts to load another page and that happens quite often and makes navigation very annoying.

With the latest update the extension DELETED ALL USER SAVED SESSIONS, destroying a full month's work of extensive reading, carefully selecting and organizing news-sources for a series of very important -to be published- news research articles.

No way to track back all those various sources

It's actually been more than a month's work, I had been using Firefox's function to restore open tabs on startup.

When I used your extension, I saved this information in User Sessions, to be sure.
Since then I've been rarely using Firefox's function to open last session on startup, in order to avoid unnecessary burden on the system. but I had it enabled when the 'incident' happened.

What happened was
1) all User saved Session were deleted, not visible to the extension no more.
2) At the same time, on opening last session with FF (built-in function), the "open tabs" of the previous session were opened, but their URL was empty...
...that is, the number of tabs of previous session were opened, but they were all "new tab" tabs...

...and then Session Boss, started automatically saving the new, empty sessions.

It may have been an issue that came up with the joint upgrade of Firefox AND Session Boss...
...,maybe you could try reproducing the issue this way...

However I did NOT reset the browser or anything, nor were the data of ANY other extension messed with.

I am not operating different user profiles on Firefox.

I also upgraded to last FF version on my other computers, where "last session" (built-in function) was not messed with

I found the extension data file you speak of named "storage.js".

HOW CAN I USE IT TO TRY TO RESTORE WHATEVER DATA IT HAS?

I fear it will have saved the "empty" automatic back-up session, and overwritten the previous healthy one.

Can you provide some directions?

Unfortunately all the User and Automatically saved sessions prior to updating were deleted, no way to retrieve it.

I asked at FF Support and they suggested the following:

"Session Boss and Tab Session Manager use a single file named storage.js and it's certainly possible the file became corrupted.....
I think this may be an issue that needs to be escalated because extensions may store many kinds of data that no one wants to lose in a crash.

Firefox allows extensions to use database storage as well as the storage.json file, so extension authors could use that for backups from time to time. I don't know how much complexity that would add."

Maybe something to consider?

Also, an "export" function seems necessary, for safety.

I understand, and I didn't mean to provide discouragement, but I have to state what I experienced....spend a 4-5 days frantically searching online for some sort of solution.

Not there yet, but I was able to get some previously saved sessions from the the browser's sessionstore-backup folder...

Still need to compare and merge files together, but I am not in that same desperate state.

I can provide no suggestions on a technical level whatsoever.

Your extension is the best I came across for Firefox Quantum, but early in the development issue still have to be resolved.

QUESTION

- Is it possible to save separate sessions to distinct session files?
Or is it necessary to save all sessions under a single file?

My - uneducated - thinking is, perhaps the danger of losing past session might be smaller if the current session was being worked on separately from previous ones.
