- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13513751, 7 years agoI am continually frustrated that
1) there is no longer "PDF Print" choice button / box. The PDF Print capability was able to create pdf docs that retained the ability to copy characters (words, letters, numbers, sentences, etc.) to the clipboard when other pdf printers will not
2) the program will randomly not print / display whole web pages
3) the program will randomly not display all of the details shown on web pages
4) the program adds steps to its operation beyond the previous Print Edit program - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13498672, 7 years agoDOES NOT WORK since the new update to Firefox. I used the old Print Edit EVERY DAY and now I cannot get the Print Edit WE to work. Please fix or let me go back to the old Firefox!

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13473073, 7 years agoA versão anterior era perfeita, esta deixou muito a desejar, está confusa e não edita direito as páginas para imprimir.
POR FAVOR ATUALIZEM O ANTIGO PRINT EDIT PARA FUNCIONAR NO FIREFOX 57. Ele era muito melhor.
The previous version (Print Edit) was perfect, this version (Print Edit WE) is confusing and does not edit the pages to print right. PLEASE UPGRADE PRINT EDIT TO WORK ON THE FIREFOX 57. It was much better. - Rated 3 out of 5by Eric, 7 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Eric, 7 years agoI am unable to get PrintEditWE to work. (Workaround: Use printEdit on Firefox ESR or Waterfox.)

but you must first learn how can you use it - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13407172, 7 years agoHi there, I have loved this plugin up to now, unfortunately currently not working since WE updates. Now sluggish takes long long time to load. And save options now there is no way to load information with styles. I use to love how I could set all the styles and take out all the fluff then purge all into one html or pdf. All formatting was kept, now I can not capture css at all, only shows without css when print edit. Also in sav. I have latest firefox portable, only other plugin is Add Blocker Plus Legacy. I tested options as well.
Hope this helps as I would love old functionality back! Truly excellent, I have used it for the past year and I say genius plugin! Even though its currently broken for me I still give 5 stars for all your efforts! I Really Really Appreciate it :-) MK - Rated 4 out of 5by eUROs, 7 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by drkenrich, 7 years agoI give it 5 stars because I LOVE this add-on. Unfortunately, the upgrade to WE doesn't work for me. I'm still at FF 54 because of the most recent version doesn't use any of the add-ons I need.
Now this one lets me edit and format about the same as before, but when I hit Preview it goes straight to print and prints blank pages. Please help get it working again for me.
EDIT:
Took quite awhile, but finally got it working. Had to go to 56, turn off Prep, and still can't find Fix Page Breaks. Oh,, well. I'll take what I can get.Developer response
posted 7 years agoThe 'Fix Page Breaks' command has been added in Print Edit WE 21.0. - Rated 1 out of 5by Ricky LaFleur, 7 years agoI like that this version creates the editable page in another tab as opposed to the previous version that dominated the entire window, but opening a page in a new tab creates a problem when that page what generated by logging in or using a search function that does not carry over if the page is duplicated.
- Rated 5 out of 5by flosommerfeld, 7 years agoThank for turning this into a WebExtension! Print Edit really helps me out to remove some annoying sections from my printouts.

FF56.0.2
I was using printWE v19.4 and found a way to use on payment pages where a new 'tab' was not created, because a page refresh as part of loading new tab; many/most payment screens no longer display the payment (POST) information/conf number.
The workaround in 19.4 and earlier was to select print preview versus print edit (print edit loading a new tab). When in print preview I could select edit from the displayed toolbar and the edit screen would popup in same tab, that displays payment amounts and conf numbers.
Unfortunately, printWE20.0 calls a different print bar and entering back to edit mode from the new print bar is not possible, therefore, printWE20.0 is rendered useless for me, because direct selection of edit renders a new page (resulting in no payment information displayed) in a new tab, meaning all my payment information is lost.
I have my main machine that I updated to printWE20.0 and another machine, same OS/FF etc., that is still printWE19.4 and revert to edit is still available on it. Unfortunately, I can not use the machine with printWE19.4 (never upgraded to printWE20.0) for payments processing.
NOTE: I have tested printWE20.0 on 9 cc pmt sites with same result: if select 'print edit' (also true in 19.x) then new tab with refresh and screen displayed in that tab does not contain the pmt information (because of the refresh).
I tried a downgrade to printWE19.4 on the machine with printWE20.0, thinking the revert would bring back the needed print bar format, but even with 19.4 the print bar remains the same. Basically I can no longer clean up pages before saving to pdf, rendering printWE useless.
Is it possible to re-introduce the edit button on the print preview toolbar so that one may elect to enter edit again, without a new tab/refresh, so that one can edit pmt pages for banks, credit cards, etc?
For what it is worth; I also liked the select pdf tick box on prior versions to printWE20.0..to me the operation for pdf y/n branch was much easier.
Hopefully you can make corrective action or advise how I may cobble printWE20.0 to allow entry back to edit from print preview toolbar (or how to hack machine that was back rev to 19.4 to display old print bar...I poked around but have not fount where I can hack to get 19.4 back to the 'GoodBar'.
I give 5* because print and printWE have served me well in past but printWE20.0 fubars my ability to use. - Rated 3 out of 5by oldFox, 7 years agoThe 'old' Print-Edit was for me one of the most useful and accomplished FF add-ons. Given the reviews here I have NOT (so ignore the 3 stars - just entered as a neutral rating because field is required) tried the WE version because it is obvious it has some significant problems but it is also equally obvious these problems stem not from the add-on developer but from FF itself, as the FF developers increasingly lock down FF into a sort of paranoid uber secure - well, what? FF used to be all about the ability to customize it to one's liking but that ability is all but gone. I'm seriously thinking about what other browser to use (WIndows) but the field is limited and unattractive: Chrome (bloatware), IE (thanks but no thanks), etc.
Which leaves FF. So isn't the thing that we should be berating FF for its regressive changes rather than having a go at Print Edit's developer, who is doing his best under trying circumstances not of his own making?
Oh, and by the way, any FF supporters out there who say the current FF is better and/or why would I not want a more secure FF: the answer is I want adequate security, not Fort Knox.
Edit: DW-dev: thanks for your response. Seems I can't add a response under yours so mine will have to go here, as an edit. The three stars remain because, as I said, the FFFs (roll your own on what the third F stands for) require an assessment so I went for average/neutral.
My 'review' was more about WE = less functionality and flexibility and applies particularly to valuable but complex add-ons like yours, hence saying it here.
A bit of background: I was trying to edit your code to see if I could get the Save PDF button to send the edited html stream to wkhtmtopdf, with a view to achieving the Holy Grail of saving an edited page with active embedded links (which wkhtmltopdf can do, at least for unedited pages). I know this has come up before, and your reply if I remember was that saving to PDF was a secondary function and just used an internal FF PDF routine to do the save. I then came up against the FF xpi validation/signing restrictions and decided life was too short, even though there is a way of disabling signing verification by using two short js config files. But doing that probably really does leave the doors open to all sorts of nasties.
I currently use a custom button to send the url of the page (so it's the whole page) to wkhtmltopdf and it outputs a tolerable or better pdf with active embedded links over 90% of the time. But it is always the whole page, so often there is unnecessary bloat. If Print-Edit could do the same thing with the edited html that would be truly awesome!Developer response
posted 7 years agoA reasonable assessment without trying Print Edit WE !!
Looking at all of the reviews, the negative points raised were:
1. Two-stage initiation sequence. Option to skip preparation stage in Print Edit WE 20.0
2. Duplicating original tab may lose some information. Necessary for integrity.
3. Page Breaks shortcut key (#) not working. Fixed in Print Edit WE 20.0.
4. Preview button didn't work. Fixed with Firefox 56.
5. Save As PDF didn't work. Fixed with Firefox 56.
6. Fix Page Breaks command missing. Will be added in next version.
7. Cannot edit Mozilla Add-ons web pages. Mozilla restriction.
8. Permissions. The original Print Edit had greater permissions.
Points 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 have been fixed. Points 7 & 8 are facts of life. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13061321, 7 years agoWill those of you that gave 3 stars or less because this replacement doesn't meet the expectations you had, get a perspective!!
The guy had a brilliant solution. His solution was broken by Firefox's changes (again even Firefox is not to blame because they changed due to technology landscape change).
So what morons can not see the clear distinction that this is a different product and it is in its infancy. Start by being grateful that he's making a new product for you ingrate idiots. I'd say you have more brains than the average bear because you use Firefox but sadly various neurons in your brain are fairly damaged and you're unable to see the bigger/fuller picture of this situation.
You should all be ashamed and apologize and correct your ratings.
Other more intelligent users please see this rating and take a few seconds write your own. Hopefully a more thoughtful one thanking the guy for his efforts. He's not even asking for donations, for heavens' sake!!!
For all you whiners about more permissions, read his response. He has addressed it. Undo your stupid knee jerk reactions of ratings someone's community effort low because you're too lazy to ask or read.
I see other great plug-ins get slammed by idiots but I've tried to ignore... this one just took the cake in how many dumb and lazy ingrates actually wrote about it.
Mr. or Ms. Author of this plug-in, this is my way of saying thank you for your creation. I love the old version and I'm sure this one will be excellent soon.
