- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16318253, 2 years agoWorks like a charm. Thank you, sir!
Just for information. Image reverse searching is great, but I discovered it only after a month or so of using. So is the image info feature. Maybe it would be better to make them more notable somehow. - Rated 4 out of 5by Lodhar, 2 years agoVery happy with that extension, I use it for a while now. But. Recently the "Alt" key to show the Firefox menus stopped working in some tabs (like google search), but not every tab. Safe mode drove me to this extension. Must be a bug, no? Can you look into this?

posted 2 years agoShould be fixed with version 4.4.1. Sorry for the delay! Eventually found out that this was a Windows issue! - Rated 1 out of 5by RA.AZ, 2 years agoClosed source now. Bearing in mind that it can "Access your data for all web sites" this functionality is not worth the risk.

posted a year agoIt's closed source but the code is available for review here: https://github.com/odebroqueville/contextSearch. The permission "Access your data for all websites" is required for the icons grid to work and is solely used for this purpose. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17229354, 2 years agoThis add-on is now closed sourced as the maintainer made the repos private

posted 2 years agoThe Page action icon should now only appear when an opensearch plugin is available from the website you're visiting. It makes it easier to add a search engine. - Rated 5 out of 5by Sivana, 3 years agoI love this add-on so much! Very easy to use :)
I was wondering if there is a way to add the search engines that are on some manga sites using the WordPress system. Cause they attach &post_type=wp-manga at the end of the search so it's hard to get this add-on to include thatDeveloper response
posted 2 years agoThank you, Sivana. I think that what you're looking for is to create aa search query string where the search terms may be in the middle of the string. The search query string is the generic url you would use to perform a search. Search query strings may contain the parameters %s or {searchTerms} where you'd like your search terms to appear, i.e. the selected text. If you need more help, feel free to email me with the address of the website you need a search query string for. - Rated 5 out of 5by hunter, 3 years agoMust have!
One small issue though:
The icon in address-bar is shown even if website is already in the search list.

EDIT: Excellent news! Thanks for the hard work!Developer response
posted 2 years agoThanks, hunter! The Page action icon should now only appear when an opensearch plugin is available from the website you're visiting. It makes it easier to add a search engine. I'll see if I can further improve things so that the icon is hidden if the search engine has already been added. Please bare with me. - Rated 5 out of 5by Zesko, 3 years ago

- Rated 2 out of 5by Pete, 3 years agoQuite good add-on. It needs some initial configuration (basically, exclude unwanted engines, add some others et.c.), after which it works well.
PS. `Google Translate` settings seems to be broken, easily fixable though.
Edit (2022-02-04) It'd be interesting (I would say necessary for keep using this addon) to have a response/explanation on that (valid) objection: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/contextual-search/reviews/1798721/ - Rated 5 out of 5by 入間平十郎, 3 years ago

Update : Fixed thanks man! - Rated 4 out of 5by eyebrid, 4 years agoVery useful but currently buggy: Any change to settings are not saved, even within an active session: Checked "Make new tab active" and switched options at the top of menu, close settings, test and first search engine is not displayed in menu. Reopen settings, all reverted to default. Made changes again, unchecked and rechecked first search, works for the rest of the session but reverts to default again when opening settings or closing firefox. Exported settings to file, but importing does nothing. Try adding a save button in settings.

posted 4 years agoThanks for reporting this bug. I've entered a new issue on GitHub: https://github.com/odebroqueville/contextSearch/issues/92 . In the future, would be great if you would report bugs or feature requests on GitHub. In the mean time, importing only applies to search engines and not options. Perhaps this is something we should look into going forward. - Rated 5 out of 5by strok3, 4 years agoI've lost all my custom search engines with the last update. Dude, If it something works, don't touch it.
Edit:
I've recovered all settings and custom search engines from an profile backup. Simpler.Developer response
posted 4 years agoPlease kindly refer to https://github.com/odebroqueville/contextSearch/issues/82 to try and recover your search engines, then you can re-install Context Search and import your recovered search engines. - Rated 1 out of 5by Fetcher, 4 years agoToday I've updated to fresh version of this addon and it has replaced all my carefully made searches with a load of useless default ones. Good job.

posted 4 years agoSorry for the inconvenience. If you didn't make a backup of your custom search engines list, you may still be able to do so, but it's a bit of a laborious process. Please view my message to @ghmv here: https://github.com/odebroqueville/contextSearch/issues/82 - Rated 4 out of 5by manfromix, 4 years agoIt does not work for me too:
1. it is absent in context menu
2. list of search engines in settings is empty
and stays empty after settings reset
3. Tries to add custom engine are not successful
P.S. It started working after plugin reinstalling. Issue to github was added.Developer response
posted 4 years agoWould you please file bugs on GitHub, here: https://github.com/odebroqueville/contextSearch/issues
We need to know your versions of Firefox, Context Search and your OS. We also need to know which steps were taken to produce the bug. If you have a backup, i.e. if you've already exported your search engines, then I would recommend removing Context search from your browser, restarting your browser and re-installing Context search. Finally, you can import your search engines. - Rated 5 out of 5by jtbrannon, 4 years agoI've been using this add-on for many years, and it saves a ton of time. I was a little disappointed in the recent update that broke some things, but it gave me the opportunity to clean up some of the engines and organize what I really use. I noticed the dev monitors these reviews. Do you know how to add google images? I tried "https://images.google.com/search?q=" but that only takes me to google images search page. What would I put to go directly to the search results?
Developer response
posted 4 years agoYou can run a Google Image Search by adding the tbm=isch query parameter:
